The engineer will collaborate with product support, service engineering, dealers, customers, and cross-functional engineering teams to investigate problems, identify root causes, and coordinate effective resolutions.\nJob Responsibilities\nInvestigate and resolve escalated technical support cases involving telematics connectivity and electronic systems.\nProvide advanced troubleshooting support for issues escalated by customer support teams.\nCollaborate with dealers, customers, engineers, and product support personnel to gather information and drive issues toward resolution.\nDiagnose problems involving electrical systems, communication networks, embedded controllers, and connected equipment.\nInterpret electrical schematics, component data sheets, wiring information, and system documentation.\nAnalyze system data, diagnostic information, logs, and other technical resources to identify potential root causes.\nTroubleshoot communication issues involving J1939, Ethernet, Modbus, and related network protocols.\nReproduce reported issues using available telematics test equipment and engineering tools.\nEscalate critical or highly complex issues to the appropriate service engineering or product engineering teams.\nClearly document troubleshooting activities, technical findings, corrective actions, and recommended next steps.\nCommunicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nSupport continuous improvement efforts involving telematics connectivity, product quality, and customer support processes.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.\nOne to two years of relevant engineering, technical support, product support, or troubleshooting experience.\nRelevant internship or co-op experience will be considered.\nFoundational understanding of structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.\nElectrical or electronics background with the ability to interpret schematics.\nUnderstanding of J1939, Ethernet, Modbus, or similar communication protocols.\nGeneral knowledge of embedded electronic systems, computer hardware, and software.\nStrong technical communication and documentation skills.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, customer-service, and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work effectively with dealers, customers, and cross-functional engineering teams.\nAbility to work onsite in Mossville, Illinois.\nAbility to travel within the United States up to 25%.\nDesired Attributes\nExperience troubleshooting telematics, connectivity, IoT, or remote-monitoring systems.\nExperience supporting mobile equipment, industrial machinery, vehicles, or off-highway equipment.\nFamiliarity with CAN-based communication networks and diagnostic tools.\nExperience investigating technical cases or supporting escalated customer issues.\nAbility to use multiple technical data sources and AI-assisted tools during troubleshooting.\nFamiliarity with embedded software development concepts or programming languages such as C or C++.\nComfortable working with test equipment, electronic controllers, wiring, and connected hardware.\nAbility to independently manage technical cases while collaborating with engineering subject-matter experts.\nVisa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.\nPay Range: $65,000-$80,000 - Commensurate with experience\nAbout RFA Engineering\nRFA Engineering has provided product development and engineering services to industry leading customers since 1943.
