We own the full robotics stack from high-performance hardware and robot systems to the infrastructure and state-of-the-art foundation world models that control our robots. Our robots are designed to be generalists capable of operating in complex, real-world environments and handling long-tail edge cases, made possible by our cutting edge research and end-to-end system design. We've raised over $450M and are investing aggressively in model research, infrastructure, hardware development, and manufacturing scale-up to make generalist robotics a reality.\nThe role\nWe're looking for a Senior/Staff Technical Program Manager, AI Research to help scale how research programs come together at Rhoda. This is a deeply technical, cross-functional execution role at the intersection of pre-training, post-training, applied research, data, GPU infrastructure, robotic hardware, and customer-facing model delivery.\nYou'll own the integrated execution plan across these efforts: connecting milestones, anticipating dependencies, driving blockers to resolution, and helping teams make timely resource and sequencing decisions. The objective is to give researchers and engineers more time to build, while making the path from research experiments to usable models more predictable.\nYou'll work closely with Research leadership, technical leads, infrastructure, robotics, and hardware teams. You won't need to invent the scientific roadmap yourself-but you should be technical enough to understand it, challenge assumptions constructively, and turn ambiguity into practical options.\nWhat you'll do\nBuild the integrated research roadmap. Translate individual project plans into a clear, continuously updated view of experiments, model and data readiness, system integrations, releases, dependencies, critical paths, and decision points.\n\nConnect model development to downstream use. Coordinate the transitions from pre-training checkpoints to post-training, applied model engineering, evaluation, and deployment; align on handoff criteria, owners, and readiness expectations.\n\nSynchronize data, compute, and hardware. Anticipate when training datasets, collection systems, robots, workcells, and GPU capacity need to be available; manage resource demand forecasts and routine scheduling trade-offs within agreed priorities.\n\nDrive blockers to resolution. Identify cross-team gaps before they become delays, bring the right owners together, maintain action plans and contingencies, and escalate consequential trade-offs with a concrete recommendation.\n\nSurface capacity and staffing risks early. Help research leaders understand where milestones need additional engineering capacity, specialized expertise, or reprioritization; support decisions without owning personnel management.\n\nBuild lightweight execution rhythms. Run focused program reviews, maintain decision and dependency logs, and create concise, reliable updates for technical leadership without burying researchers in process.\n\nManage uncertainty intelligently. Distinguish experiments, proof-of-concept demonstrations, engineering-readiness milestones, and customer-deployment commitments; track confidence and learning goals instead of forcing speculative research into false precision.\n\nImprove cross-functional execution. Partner with hardware and operations TPMs and program leads to clarify interfaces, ownership, acceptance criteria, and release expectations as Rhoda scales.\n\nWhat we're looking for\nSignificant technical program management experience delivering complex, interdependent work across software, ML, research infrastructure, robotics, or similarly technical organizations; senior or staff-level judgment.\n\nStrong understanding of the machine learning development lifecycle, including datasets, model training, evaluation, iteration, and the practical challenges of moving models into production.\n\nDemonstrated ability to build an execution system from an ambiguous starting point, identify true critical dependencies, and drive progress across teams without direct reporting authority.\n\nTechnical fluency sufficient to work credibly with researchers and infrastructure engineers, ask the right questions, and present real trade-offs-not just collect status.\n\nExperience coordinating constrained engineering resources, such as compute capacity, test systems, labs, hardware platforms, or specialized teams.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to turn many threads of technical work into a concise, decision-ready view for leadership.\n\nSound judgment about when to solve a coordination issue independently, when to involve technical owners, and when a decision needs leadership attention.\n\nNice to have\nExperience in large-scale model training, foundation models, generative models, computer vision, embodied AI, or robotics.\n\nFamiliarity with GPU clusters, data pipelines, robot testing and evaluation, or hardware/software integration.\n\nExperience bridging research organizations and customer-facing applied engineering or model release functions.\n\nWhy this matters\nRhoda's capability roadmap spans faster task adaptation, instruction and demonstration following, higher execution speed, and dexterous manipulation. These breakthroughs depend on models, data, hardware, compute, and evaluation becoming ready in the right sequence. You'll help turn that complexity into a coherent execution engine-without slowing down the research itself.\nSuccess in this role means important handoffs are clear, blockers surface early, resource conflicts are resolved faster, technical teams spend less time coordinating across silos, and leadership has a trustworthy view of milestones and risks.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5766,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Industrial Robotics","Humanoid Robots"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-23T02:12:20Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 6","filings_12m":6,"filings_prev_12m":1,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":252500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-29T16:27:21+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":7,"expected_fill_days":87,"reasons":["conf:1","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-30T05:48:23Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/rhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/rhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-31T01:27:36Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1975,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-01T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":685148},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=685148"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Frhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Frhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Frhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/rhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Frhoda-ai-senior-staff-technical-program-manager-ai-research"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3126558}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"rhoda.ai","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3126558},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
