Our client in the compostable packaging industry is looking for a Business Development Manager to build and grow their egg carton business with a target market of egg producers, packers, marketers, and private label retailers. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the sales process and project timeline from lead generation and product trials to customer approval, sales, and account growth. Ideal candidates already have strong industry connections, knowledge of egg packaging, and experience managing lengthy sales cycles, product trials, and approvals. This role requires a true hunter who can travel regularly and has a genuine passion for sustainability. [REMOTE] Business Development Manager, Egg Cartons Responsibilities
- Leverage existing relationships with egg producers, packers, and retailers for near-term wins
• Generate leads via cold calling, referrals, and events; follow up within 24 hours via CRM tool
• Target accounts with active packaging changes: foam phase-outs, cage-free growth, carton issues
• Learn each account’s formats, equipment, labeling needs; match to product or bring to dev team
• Lead line trials; track run speed, closing, breakage, and compression through to approval
• Coordinate with supply chain on tooling, lead times, freight to ensure on-time program launches
• Support branded and private label programs on carton graphics, labeling, and print requirements
• Deliver presentations on compostable cartons, packaging legislation, and end-of-life options
• Set clear expectations on carton performance, cost vs. current packaging, and launch timelines
• Maintain a robust pipeline with realistic volume, probability, and close timelines at all times
• After launch, manage pricing, service, growth; expand into additional formats, retail programs
• Provide Sales Leadership with regular updates on trial status, competitor activity, market needs
[REMOTE] Business Development Manager, Egg Cartons Qualifications
- 5+ years progressive sales or business development experience required
• 3+ years experience selling egg cartons/flats/packaging to egg producers or packers required
• Experience managing production trials and product approvals required
• Technical knowledge of egg packaging, labeling, regulations, and sustainability required
