Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.\nHiring Range\nThis is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, with a proposed salary of $80,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.\nMinimum Requirements:\nBachelor's degreeIn lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience beyond the required amount may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.\n\n3+ years of experience managing or implementing digital accessibility initiatives, document remediation, or related portfolios.In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience beyond the required amount may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.\n\nSkills:\nComprehensive knowledge of current federal and state requirements related to digital accessibility, including a working knowledge of current ADA requirements, WCAG, and other related standards\nDemonstrated ability to remediate a wide range of digital content (e.g., web pages, Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and multimedia) and advise content creators on remediation strategies.\nProficiency with digital accessibility testing and review tools\nStrong facilitation and presentation skills, such as conducting training, creating presentations, and developing outreach strategies for diverse audiences and subject-matter experts related to digital accessibility\nPreferences\nPreferred qualifications are not required. We also commit to helping future colleagues develop and grow professionally.\nIAAP certification (CPACC, WAS) or similar accessibility credential.\nExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams ( IT, communications, legal, program, and/or procurement teams)\nExperience working in a higher education environment\nEssential Functions\nServe as the internal campus expert for digital-accessibility content compliance and contribute to the overall development and refinement of the campus-wide digital-accessibility strategy and related initiatives. \nDevelop and deliver engaging workshops, guides, and training resources for faculty, staff, and content creators on building accessible digital content for websites, Canvas LMS, and digital communications.\nPartner with IT, Strategic Sourcing, and Legal to review vendor Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs/VPATs), conduct hands-on software testing, and negotiate remediation roadmaps prior to software acquisition.\nOversee any institution-sponsored automated and manual remediation efforts and tracking, and advise community members on remediation actions.\nAdvise leadership (CIO, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and relevant committees) on accessibility risks, compliance metrics, and strategic directions.\nCoordinate regularly with the Student Disability Resource Center, Public Affairs, IT, and academic departments to address digital barriers and streamline accommodation workflows.\nTrack remediation progress, analyze accessibility scan metrics, and produce regular reporting on university compliance trends.\nPerforms all other duties as assigned.\nAdditional Functions\nStay current with emerging digital accessibility technologies, legal precedents, federal regulations, and best practices\nMake recommendations regarding digital communication and brand strategy for the university.\nTechnology Solutions & Services (TS&S)\nTS&S provides excellent constituent service, acting as a strategic partner to advance Rice University’s priorities and mission of “pathbreaking research, unsurpassed teaching, and contribution to the betterment of our world.” We fuel innovation at speed across the university by building a culture of trust, using an effective operating model, driving seamless experiences, and providing core IT capabilities.
