Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.\nOperates heavy equipment to construct, maintain and repair paved and unpaved County roads, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, ditches, catch basins and storm drainage systems.\nOperates heavy equipment to maintain public rights-of-way.\nOperates heavy equipment to assist other divisions and departments as necessary, including but not limited to maintaining County landfills.\nManually loads / unloads materials onto vehicles; transports equipment and materials to / from work sites.\nUses hand and power tools in various manual tasks as required.\nInspects equipment to ensure proper and safe working condition; reports defects or required maintenance to the supervisor.\nPerforms routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools and equipment.\nPerforms all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.\nMaintains accurate and complete work records as required.\nMay operate dump trucks and other equipment.\nVOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION:\nRequires high school diploma, GED equivalent or specialized vocational training.\nSPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:\nMust possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements or obtain CDL permit (3) months after date of hire. Must obtain CDL (Class “B”) with appropriate endorsements (6) months after date of hire.
