Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.\n\nEmployee essential job duties and responsibilities are required to be performed onsite at the KCATA. (onsite / field / satellite locations)\nSupervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.\nSupervises the operation of service within an assigned territory and takes necessary corrective action to maintain service in the most effective and efficient manner. \nInstructs operating personnel in correct schedules and routes while maintaining communication with the radio dispatcher of all activities.\nInvestigates, and reports emergency conditions of operations. Coordinates road calls with Maintenance personnel and radio dispatcher. \nEvaluates schedules, conducts counts, recommends modifications, and investigates complaints and accidents within the assigned territory.\nReports on traffic conditions and recommends modifications. \nEnsures logs and forms are accurately completed and submitted.\nReroutes buses during street closures and special events.\nPrepares daily and special reports and performs special assignments. \nOther duties as assigned.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nWork requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees (1 or more full-time employees) including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/ effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. \nFISCAL RESPONSIBILITY\nPosition has no fiscal responsibility.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nRequired Education and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nOne (1) to three (3) years of related work experience in transit operations. \nAn equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.\nRequired Licenses or Certifications\nValid Driver’s License.\nValid Class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with Passenger endorsement and no Air Brake restriction.\nCOMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES\nKnowledge of:\nEnglish grammar, spelling, and punctuation.\nPrinciples and practices of basic bookkeeping.\nModern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.\nRoutes, transfer rules, fare structure, and operating procedures of the Authority.\nOperating equipment.\nPrinciples and practices of employee supervision.\nSafety rules, violations, procedures, and policies.\nSkill in:\nInterpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships.\nPerforming a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.\nPerforming basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.\nResolving conflict.\nAbility to:\nMeet schedules and deadlines of the work.\nUnderstand and carry out oral and written directions.\nAccurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files.\nMaintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.\nUse independent judgment and initiative in accordance with accepted operating procedures and policies.\nConduct accident investigations.\nPrepare clear and concise reports.\nCommunicate effectively, both orally and in writing.\nPOSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK\nWill work in a normal office environment. Will sometimes be required to work and/or attend meetings or events in public and at all RideKC locations.\nPosition requires a significant amount of time spent in a vehicle with frequent stops entering and exiting the vehicle.\nVaried shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.\nAbnormal hours are expected and required for specific events and to reach all employees.\nTRAVEL\nFrequent daily travel within the metropolitan area is required.\nWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThis position requires frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards and is generally sedentary. Most work is performed outside or with exposure to risk. Incumbents may be required to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
