Management retains the discretion of adding or changing the duties of the position at any time.\nJob Summary:\nThe Safety Technician is responsible for several activities, including waste consolidation, segregation, and preparation for shipping/disposal. The technician will perform facility inspections which include machine shops, production work areas, warehouse, and office workspaces; along with providing recommendations for corrective actions. The Technician will perform safety training on a variety of topics to employees and review the company's policies and procedures to ensure that the operational processes adhere to the internal guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations. The safety technician must have excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.\nThe primary tasks, duties, and responsibilities that usually make up the job description of a Safety technician are shown below:\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nInspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations; cite dangerous areas and processes and recommend corrective action.\nDistribute and track issuance of PPE to company staff according to employee role, tasks, and department.\nMonitor company PPE inventory and replenish supplies accordingly.\nPrepare, distribute, and post various health and safety material and announcements.\nAssist in spill clean-up as needed.\nDesign and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from hazardous work conditions.\nConduct new hire safety orientation and training.\nMaintain SDS (MSDS) formal document library; update SDS’s as needed.\nMaintain the Company Dashboard and applicable OSHA occupational injury logs and report safety statistics as required.\nCoordinates clean-up or remediation activities at facilities.\nAssist in coordinating the daily activities of safety in support of the operations team.\nAssist management in near-miss and incident reporting and investigation.\nConduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.\nOther Duties and Responsibilities\nAssist in driving continuous improvement through safety analyses, audits, and investigations.\nAssist in maintaining and updating environmental compliance for hazardous waste, storm-water, and air permits.\nMaintain comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations.\nAssist in driving employees to the clinic for random checks.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nEducation and Experience\nOccupational health and safety associate’s degree, or certificate from an accredited community college or vocational school are strongly preferred.\nThree to five years of relevant experience.\nConsiderable knowledge of Federal EPA/OSHA, State, and local policies, and regulations in the manufacturing industry.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.\nComputer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs are required.\nRequires effective time management skills and personal conduct.\nAbility to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.\nSpecial Certificate or Course Requirements:\nCompletion of the OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training course and/or the 24 or 8-hour annual refresher course within the past 12 months is desirable.\nOSHA 30-hour General Industry \n\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nNone\nPay Range\n$18-$24/hr\nWORK TYPE\nFull-time (On-site)\nLocation: Lancaster, CA\nRIDE is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical condition, religious creed, physical disability, mental disability, age, medical condition, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
