Based at Meridian Business Park in Leicester, we're a skilled team of specialist engineers working at the cutting edge of power generation machinery.\nRidgway Machines is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with proven experience designing machinery, mechanisms and moving mechanical systems.\nThis is not a general mechanical design role. We are specifically looking for engineers who have designed machines, mechanical equipment, rotating machinery, automation systems or other complex moving assemblies and who can demonstrate ownership of those designs.\nIf your background is primarily focused on analysis, simulation, CFD, aerodynamics, structural design or static equipment design, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.\nThe Opportunity\nJoining an established engineering team, you will take ownership of the design and development of bespoke machinery from concept through to manufacture.\nYou will work on challenging engineering projects involving rotating equipment, mechanical assemblies, moving mechanisms and custom-built machinery for industrial applications.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nDesigning bespoke machinery using SolidWorks\nDesigning mechanisms, moving assemblies and mechanical systems\nDeveloping concepts through detailed design and manufacture\nProducing engineering drawings and documentation\nSelecting materials and mechanical components\nSupporting design reviews\nMaintaining BOMs and engineering records\nWorking closely with manufacturing, suppliers and project teams\nSolving practical mechanical engineering challenges\nRequirements\nExperience in Machinery and Mechanical equipment design\nDesirable - experience with rotating equipment, mechanisms and moving assemblies, Industrial machinery\nMechanical systems design\nDesign for manufacture\n3D CAD design using SolidWorks or a similar package\nApplicants should be able to describe specific machinery they have personally designed and explain their contribution to the project.\nIdeal Backgrounds\nExperience from the following sectors is particularly relevant:\nSpecial purpose machinery\nIndustrial machinery\nAutomation and robotics\nManufacturing equipment\nProcess machinery\nCapital equipment\nRotating machinery\nBespoke engineering equipment\nQualifications\nDegree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline\nSolid 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)\nBenefits\n Salary range £40,000 to £60,000 dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset\n37.5 hour working week, Friday finish at 1.30pm for production teams\nFree parking\n25 days paid annual leave (includes 3 days for Christmas shut down) plus 8 days paid public holidays\nCompany Bonus scheme\nStakeholder Pension\nFamily friendly policies\nTraining and Personal Development\nSome onward International Travel Opportunities\nComplementary corporate work wear\nRelocation Assistance\nImportant information for candidates\nPre-employment screening\nPlease note that the appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to standard pre-employment screening, as applicable to the post.
