This role is central to the evolution and operational performance of our infrastructure estate, ensuring it remains secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned to business needs. You'll play a key role in shaping and delivering infrastructure strategy across cloud, core enterprise platforms, connectivity, and end-user environments, with a strong focus on technical direction, platform improvement, and operational excellence.\nWe’re looking for someone who is comfortable providing technical leadership, supporting delivery teams, leading operational improvements, and engaging with senior stakeholders across both technology and the wider business.\nAs part of a multi-skilled technology function, you will work closely with Product Managers and Delivery Managers to shape priorities, support OKRs, and ensure successful delivery of both strategic change and BAU activity.\nThis is a key role with significant influence on the future direction of our technology landscape.\nWhat you’ll be doing ·\nProvide hands-on technical leadership: Lead the ongoing development, standardisation, and modernisation of our corporate infrastructure estate across cloud and enterprise platforms. Contribute to solution design, problem solving, automation, platform improvement, and the resolution of complex technical challenges.\nCloud and platform management: Drive the effective adoption and operation of our cloud platforms and related infrastructure services, ensuring solutions are robust, well-governed, and operationally sustainable.\nOwn operational performance and BAU delivery: Ensure the effective day-to-day operation of infrastructure services, including monitoring, patching, lifecycle management, incident response, continuity, and continual service improvement.\nDrive delivery and prioritisation: Work closely with Product Managers and Delivery Managers to shape OKRs, prioritise work, and deliver infrastructure change, projects, and service improvements alongside BAU commitments.\nStakeholder engagement and translation: Build strong relationships across technology and the business, translating technical issues, risks, and opportunities into clear, practical language for non-technical and senior stakeholders.\nImprove engineering practices: Contribute to the development of standards, automation, and modern ways of working to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality across the infrastructure estate.\nWe’re looking for someone with \nSignificant experience in IT infrastructure, spanning cloud, networking, and modern secure access technologies\nStrong expertise in Microsoft Azure, including infrastructure services, networking, identity, governance, and operational management\nStrong hands-on experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell\nExperience working in or supporting high-performing infrastructure teams, contributing to technical direction and delivery in fast-paced environments\nStrong understanding of infrastructure security, hardening, monitoring, resilience, compliance, and operational best practice\nStrong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of complex infrastructure challenges from design through to resolution\nThe ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities effectively\nWhat you’ll bring to the role\nA strong track record of hands-on infrastructure engineering and technical leadership in complex environments\nDeep knowledge of both cloud and enterprise infrastructure, including servers, networking, identity, storage, and modern device management \nStrong experience of infrastructure modernisation, particularly in Microsoft Azure-led environments \nExperience balancing strategic change, operational improvement, and BAU service ownership \nA strong understanding of IT security practices and experience working alongside security teams to ensure infrastructure is resilient and compliant \nThe ability to lead across a broad technology remit, operating effectively in Agile ways of working while remaining delivery-focused and outcome-driven \nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders \nA collaborative leadership style, with the ability to develop people, build trust, and drive high standards across the team \nA hands-on approach to infrastructure engineering, with an emphasis on operational efficiency and automation\nOur Approach to AI\nAt Rightmove, we believe software and product are ultimately people problems, and everything we build aims to improve the lives of others.
