If you are excited about this role, or about our company in general, we would love to hear from you!\nWe are seeking a QA Automation Engineer who will also take on the Scrum Master role for their squad. This dual-role position helps scale the quality and stability of our digital platforms through advanced UI test automation, while also driving delivery flow, transparency, and continuous improvement across the sprint cycle.\nAs a QA Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining automated UI test scripts using Playwright, driven by existing TestRail test cases. You will work closely with QA, engineering, and product teams during sprints to expand automation coverage and improve test reliability.\nDuring regression and UAT periods, you will contribute to manual testing efforts, ensuring our releases meet both functional and business expectations.\nAs Scrum Master, you will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, remove impediments, coach the team on Agile practices, and coordinate release management activities - ensuring the squad delivers predictably and continuously improves.\nYou'll also explore AI-assisted testing strategies to speed up development and identify opportunities for intelligent test optimization.\nResponsibilities\nQA Automation & Testing\nDevelop and maintain UI test automation scripts using Playwright in TypeScript/JavaScript, aligned with TestRail cases.\nIntegrate and manage test scripts within GitHub repositories, following version control best practices.\nDesign and maintain CI-integrated test pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions) to detect UI regressions early.\nWork with QA, product, and engineering teams to prioritize test automation coverage during sprints.\nSupport manual regression and UAT testing during release weeks to ensure stability and confidence.\nContinuously identify and fill test coverage gaps, in both automated and manual areas.\nAnalyze and troubleshoot UI test failures and collaborate with developers to drive resolution.\nStay current with testing tools, trends, and best practices in automation and QA.\nContribute to load testing the platform.\nLeverage AI tools to accelerate script generation and improve test case authoring.\nScrum Master Responsibilities\nFacilitate Scrum ceremonies - backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint review, and retrospectives - keeping them purposeful and timeboxed.\nMaintain transparency of the backlog, sprint goal, and Definition of Done, and drive empiricism through inspection and adaptation of Scrum events and metrics.\nIdentify and remove impediments quickly, escalating cross-team blockers where needed.\nCoach the Product Owner and Developers to self-manage, collaborate effectively, and continuously improve.\nCoordinate release management activities, including version tracking, release documentation, and regression/UAT sign-off, in partnership with QA and DevOps.\nManage sprint and release administration in Jira (sprint creation and closure, sub-tasks, release versions, dashboards).\nDrive actionable outcomes from retrospectives, tracking improvement items with clear owners and follow-through.\nShared / Cross-Cutting\nParticipate fully in sprint ceremonies: grooming, planning, retrospectives, and daily standups.\nWork with QA, product, and engineering teams across multiple geographies to align priorities and delivery.\nBalance hands-on automation/testing work with Scrum Master facilitation duties across the sprint cycle.\nQualifications, Skills & Experience\nMinimum of 4 years working in a similar QA/automation role.\nStrong experience with Playwright or comparable UI automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Cypress).\nHands-on experience with TestRail or other test case management tools.\nSolid understanding of test methodologies (unit, regression, integration, E2E).\nProficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, or a strong willingness to upskill.\nFamiliarity with web technologies: HTML, CSS, and DOM/browser behavior.\nSolid experience using Git, working collaboratively in shared codebases (e.g. GitHub).\nKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines and test integration workflows (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins).\nPrior experience as a Scrum Master, or strong working knowledge of Scrum/Agile ceremonies and practices, is highly desirable.\nFamiliarity with Jira administration for sprint and release management (sprints, versions, dashboards).\nExperience working in Agile teams (Scrum).\nExcellent knowledge of automation testing processes and methodologies.\nAdept at working with cross-functional groups across multiple geographies.\nAbility to deliver results with minimal supervision, and to balance competing priorities between hands-on QA work and Scrum Master facilitation.\nOutstanding analytical, problem-solving, communication, and facilitation skills.\nGood communication and written skills in English.\nRightShip is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity, enables access and promotes inclusion in our workplace.
