Our backend platform spans multiple technologies, with newer services built using React, Node, NestJS, and TypeScript, alongside existing services implemented in Ruby on Rails.\nSenior engineers at Rightway are expected to bring strong technical ownership, contribute to system design, and help teams deliver reliable, high quality software.\nWe're an AI-native engineering team that uses AI tooling daily in our development workflow and expects our senior engineers to lead adoption, establish best practices, and help the team get better at working with these tools.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO:\nLead the architecture and delivery across the Rails backend and React frontend\nBuild the integrations that connect our service to our Node.js/NestJS PBM platform\nMentor mid-level and junior engineers through pairing and code review discussions\nSet testing and code-quality standards for your area, and raise risks early\nCollaborate closely with product and design partners to deliver thoughtful solutions\nParticipate in architectural discussions and help guide technical decisions\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well tested code\nReview code and provide technical guidance to teammates\nHelp improve reliability, performance, and developer experience\nWHO YOU ARE:\n5+ years of professional experience building production software\nStrong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React\nSolid backend experience with Ruby on Rails, Node, or similar frameworks\nExperience working with APIs using GraphQL or REST\nInterest in working across multiple backend technologies\nComfortable owning complex systems and improving them over time\nCollaborative, pragmatic, and product minded\nEXTRA CREDIT:\nExperience with Ruby and Rails\nExperience building backend services with Node, NestJS, and TypeScript\nExperience with Protobuf and or gRPC\nFamiliarity with healthcare systems or regulated environments\nExperience handling sensitive data and privacy considerations\nStartup or fast paced product experience\nExperience leading AI-assisted development workflows and establishing team standards around AI tooling\nCOMPENSATION: $160,000 - $195,000 annually, in addition to bonus and equity\nCompensation offered will be determined by geographic location, experience, and qualifications.\nCYBERSECURITY AWARENESS NOTICE\nIn response to ongoing and industry-wide fraudulent recruitment activities (i.e., job scams), Rightway wants to inform potential candidates that we will only contact them from the @rightwayhealthcare.com email domain.
