We need to expand our already industry-leading team, find the best people, and lead the charge.\nWe are looking for a skilled and motivated PCS Controls Engineer with expertise in model-based design (MBD) using MATLAB/Simulink and automatic code generation. You will develop, simulate, and deploy advanced control algorithms for grid-connected inverters across energy storage applications.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role working at the intersection of control systems, embedded software, and grid-following & grid-forming technologies.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop control models for embedded hardware, including:\nGrid-following and/or grid-forming inverters\nCurrent and voltage regulation\nActive/reactive power control, PQ control, droop control\nPhase-Locked Loop (PLL) for grid synchronization\nProtection mechanisms (overcurrent, under/overvoltage, anti-islanding, etc.)\nDesign, simulate, and validate models in Simulink / Stateflow.\nGenerate embedded C code using Simulink Coder / Embedded Coder for deployment on microcontrollers (e.g., Infineon XMC7200, TI C2000, STM32, NXP).\nSupport MIL, SIL, and HIL testing workflows for model validation.\nCollaborate with system, hardware, and software teams to integrate control logic into battery systems.\nEnsure traceability from requirements to model and code (ISO 26262 or ASPICE preferred) using Simulink Requirement and Test.\nDebug, analyse, and optimise real-time embedded control performance.\nMaintain and version control models using Git or similar systems.\nRequirements\nMasters or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or related field.\n5+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control system development.\nHands-on experience with Simulink code generation for embedded targets (Embedded Coder, Simulink Coder).\nStrong understanding of grid-following & grid-forming technologies\nExperience in HIL testing platforms such as dSPACE or Typhoon HIL.\nWorking understanding of CAN data networking\nProficient with Vector tools (Canalyzer, CANape, CANoe)\nSolid foundation in control theory, signal processing, and microcontroller-based embedded systems.\nAbility to be effective in a fast-paced development environment and react to changes\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nExcellent problem solving and organisational skills\nExperience with grid-connected inverter standards (IEEE 1547,EN 50549, VDE-AR-N 4110, G99, etc.).\nFamiliarity with Simscape for power electronics simulation.\nFamiliarity with UDS diagnostics and battery communication protocols.\nKnowledge of safety-critical software development (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508).\nSkills in scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for test automation.\nExperience with Git, JIRA, Jenkins, or other DevOps tools.\nBasic C/C++ or embedded firmware experience.\nWhat we are like and what we offer\nWorking on exciting projects in a high-performance environment pushing the limits, moving science forward while working with the global automotive manufacturers on developing the latest automotive technology.\nFlexible working hours - align with your manager and work on your own schedule.\nEducational budget and internal education programs - at Rimac, we believe in the importance of continuous learning.
