This position will also perform preventative and repair maintenance relative to general painting, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC systems of the College, as well as other general maintenance duties as assigned.Job Description\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nNote: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs, and similar or related tasks may be assigned as necessary. Management reserves the right to assign additional duties as required.\nInstalls, repairs and maintains plumbing systems and fixtures in campus buildings. These piping systems may be used to transport water, waste, gases or hot liquids.\nReads blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems.\nPlans, installs and services plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls. This may include installing supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment; assembly and installation of valves and fittings; installation, repair and maintenance of water treatment equipment, piping and controls; installation, repair and maintenance of underground sanitary and water piping systems; installation, repair and maintenance of sinks, tubs and toilets; installation, repair and maintenance of water heaters and conditioners; installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim; and testing pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.\nWorking in cooperation with other trades and laborers, ensures that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and ensures efficient completion of any project. Provides adequate services to ensure that all water supply networks and waste and drainage systems are installed, repaired and maintained to meet all standards of building codes and safety.\nEnsures compliance with all building codes and installation requirements; and maintains relevant recordkeeping.\nPerforms scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures.\nIn support of other maintenance personnel, performs general building maintenance tasks as assigned including, but not limited to, general painting, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC preventative maintenance programs.\nAttends classes and seminars as directed to update skills.\nIn addition, this position may be required to come into work on weekends, holidays and in emergency situations (i.e., subject to “on-call” responsibilities).\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:\nNote: The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are representative but not exhaustive. Meeting the listed qualifications does not guarantee job placement or advancement.\nAbility to review building plans and specification to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials.\nAbility to apply all relevant building codes and installation requirements to installations, repairs and maintenance of College facilities as necessary.\nGeneral knowledge and skills in carpentry, painting, electrical, and HVAC trades.\nAbility to work effectively and follow detailed instructions.\nAbility to choose and use all trade appropriate tools, including drain cleaning equipment.\nAbility to perform general building maintenance tasks.\nAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writing.\nMust possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license.\nAbility to work in a variety of weather conditions.\nAbility to work assigned, additional and on-call hours as required.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nThis position requires the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Work requires considerable physical activity including walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling, grasping, balancing, climbing, kneeling, standing, and crouching. Incumbent is subject to inside and outside activities with a variety of weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards, and atmospheric conditions. Visual acuity is required to operate automotive equipment and perform maintenance tasks. Worker is required to hear sufficiently to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment in performance of duties.\nEducation and Experience\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent; or, an appropriate combination of education and experience.\nTwo years of verifiable experience in plumbing performing light and medium maintenance, installation, repair and equipment operations or the equivalent in education, training , and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.\nAbility to work assigned schedule which may include evening shifts; and flexibility for additional and on-call hours as business necessitates.\nPossess or have the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license\nPreferred Qualifications:\nGraduate from an accredited trade school in plumbing.\nFlorida State Plumbing License.\nFlorid State Backflow Prevention Tester Certification.\nRingling College of Art and Design is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
