Our values, care, courage and curiosity, guide how we work and how we treat each other.\nAbout the role\nWe are looking for a Workday Data Management SME - Modern ERP to support the Manage People, Time and Payroll stream within the Modern ERP Program and contribute to Rio Tinto’s transition to SAP S/4HANA.\nThis is a great opportunity for someone with strong Workday and data management capability to help ensure employee master data is complete, accurate and fit for purpose throughout testing and deployment. You will develop data-driven test scenarios, reconcile information across source and target systems, investigate integration issues and support reliable payroll and time outcomes.\nReporting to the Data & Payroll Accounting Lead - Modern ERP and working closely with Group Services, Employee Support and Payroll Services, IS&T and other Modern ERP teams, you will:\nPrepare and execute data-driven test scenarios and scripts covering data migration, system interfaces and payroll and time outcomes\nValidate Workday data during testing, including completeness checks, field-level validation and exception analysis\nReconcile data integration outcomes between Workday and SAP S/4HANA, including relevant off-system payroll business units\nInvestigate data and integration issues, document variances and support defect resolution through to retesting and closure\nIdentify opportunities to strengthen data controls, validation processes and Workday practices during testing and transition\nDocument process changes and update Workday procedures arising from testing, defect resolution and cutover preparation\nSupport go-live readiness through business-as-usual training, knowledge transfer, readiness checklists and job aids\nContribute to cutover and hypercare preparations by developing practical data validation routines and supporting materials\nAbout you\nA commitment to the safety of yourself and your team\nStrong understanding of Workday processes, employee master data and downstream system integration impacts\nExperience testing employee master data and lifecycle events through user acceptance testing or system validation activities\nWorking knowledge of data migration, data mapping, reconciliation and data-quality controls within HR or payroll transformations\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and clearly document defects, evidence and outcomes\nAbility to collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams, manage testing priorities and deliver work to agreed timelines\nWhat we offer\nBe recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you’ve helped the world progress\nA work environment where safety is always the number one priority\nA contract/secondment opportunity through to 28th May 2027\nExposure to one of Rio Tinto’s most significant global transformation programs\nCareer development and education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions\nThe opportunity to build connections across Group Services, ESPS, IS&T and the broader Modern ERP Program\nOngoing access to family-friendly health, medical and wellbeing support\nLeave for all of life’s reasons\nExclusive employee discounts across banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more\nWhere you’ll be working\nYou will work within Group Services as part of the Modern ERP Program, partnering closely with Employee Support and Payroll Services, IS&T and other program teams.\nThe role is available from an appropriate Group Services location and will operate as a secondment through to 28th May 2027.\nAbout Rio Tinto\nRio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
