Equipment in the plant includes gas and steam turbines, generators, boilers, water softeners and demineralizers, pumps, water wells, and electrical equipment.\nThe Fuel Tender Operator assists in operating the boilers, water softeners, and related equipment. The following list of essential job duties is not all-inclusive; Fuel Tender Operators are required to perform other duties as directed by the Department Supervisor.\nEssential Functions (Job Duties):\nAssists with operating the boilers and related equipment.\nDraws water samples and performs chemical tests on the samples.\nAdjusts chemical feed rates.\nMixes batches of chemicals.\nOpens and closes valves.\nAssists with lighting boilers.\nStarts and stops pumps.\nMonitors equipment.\nOperates the plant water softeners and related equipment.\nDirects unloading of salt trucks into the softener brine pits.\nOperates Cogeneration Plant Demineralizer and related equipment.\nTrouble-shoot equipment and operational issues and report findings or observations.\nPerform Lock Out of equipment in the area for maintenance activities.\nAbout you\nTo succeed in this role, you will have:\nMust possess a high school diploma or equivalent \nMust be able to read, write and perform basic math.\nMust be qualified on the basis of general experience and fitness and ability.\nMechanical and electrical aptitude, computer skills, and plant operating knowledge are desirable.\nForklift, scissor lift, bobcat, computer and other equipment as required by job\nMust possess intermediate English reading and writing skills\nMust have a valid California Driver's license\nWhere you will be working\nRio Tinto Minerals operates globally providing borates to world markets.
