People who thrive in fast paced environments, communicate clearly, and bring relentless focus to efficiency and execution.\nAbout the role\nThe EHS Specialist will support Riot’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs by promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and partnering with operations, construction, contractors, and leadership teams to identify hazards and reduce risk. This role will conduct safety inspections, update and deliver safety training, support incident investigations, maintain safety documentation, and help drive continuous improvement across site operations. This position requires working the swing shift, with hours from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM.\nWhat you'll do\nConduct routine safety walks, field inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and opportunities for improvement.\nMonitor construction, electrical, operations, maintenance, site customer and contractor activities for compliance with OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E expectations, environmental, company policies, and site-specific procedures.\nSupport the implementation of safe work practices, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, powered industrial trucks, fall protection, machine guarding, emergency response, and personal protective equipment requirements.\nEducate by Coaching employees, contractors, and field personnel on safety standards, hazard recognition, risk controls, and safe equipment operation.\nFacilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, safety stand-downs, emergency drills, and other awareness activities to strengthen safety engagement.\nReview Job Hazard Analyses, pre-task plans, permits, and work plans to verify that hazards are identified and appropriate controls are in place before work begins.\nAssist with incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations; help identify root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.\nTrack corrective actions to closure and partner with supervisors and operations leaders to resolve safety deficiencies.\nMaintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, safety metrics, and other EHS program documentation.\nSupport contractor safety management by participating in orientations, safety meetings, field reviews, and performance follow-up.\nProvide practical recommendations to improve workplace safety, reduce risk exposure, and support an incident-free work environment.\nExercise stop-work authority when work activities present an imminent risk or do not comply with established safety requirements.\nPerform other related EHS duties as assigned.\nWhat you'll bring\n3+ years of experience in safety, construction safety, industrial operations, Bitcoin mining, data center operations, fabrication, manufacturing, utilities, or mission-critical infrastructure environments.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, Engineering, or a related field preferred.\nWorking knowledge of OSHA general industry and/or construction standards.\nAbility to identify hazards, assess risk, and recommend practical corrective actions.\nKnowledge of incident investigation methods, root cause analysis, Job Hazard Analysis, permit-to-work systems, and safety performance metrics such as TRIR, DART, near misses, and corrective action closure.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital safety documentation tools.\nStrong communication, coaching, documentation, and presentation skills.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow up on action items.\nAbility to work collaboratively with employees, site customers, contractors, supervisors, and management teams.\nComfortable working in field environments and communicating with both frontline employees and leadership.\nAbility to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced operational environment.\nDemonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and commitment to continuous improvement.\nAbility to support a culture where safety, operational excellence, accountability, and teamwork are priorities.\nPreferred Qualifications\nOSHA 30-Hour certification for General Industry or Construction.\nNFPA 70E electrical safety training or experience supporting electrical safety programs.\nFirst Aid/CPR/AED certification.\nProfessional safety certification or progress toward certification, such as ASP, GSP, CSHO, OHST, CHST, or CSP.\nExperience with high-voltage, medium-voltage, or low-voltage electrical work environments.\nPhysicalrequirementsand work environment\nAbility to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods\nAbility to lift and move equipment as needed (50 pounds)\nAbility to work onsite in a mining or data center environment (heat, noise, etc.)\nExposure to high noise levels and varying temperatures\nSafety Requirements\nPPE & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).\nHazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.\nStandards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.\nOrganization: Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.\nCompensation and Benefits\nSalary commensurate with experience. \n401(k) retirement plan: Incudes a generous company match.\nComprehensive health coverage: Multiple medical plan options, including 100% company-paid plans, HAS & FSA.\nWork-life balance: Paid time off, sick time and floating holidays.\nWellness & lifestyle perks: Enjoy free gym memberships, pet insurance, childcare discounts, employee assistance program, and more to support your life both in and out of work.\nRiot is an equalopportunityemployer.
