About the role

Riot Platforms is seeking a Senior Data Center Technical Trainer to join our Central Operations team. You'll play a key role in shaping both the strategy and content behind how our operations teams are trained and certified.

You will lead training classes and certify employees who complete the curriculum, and you will design and implement a comprehensive drill program covering onsite operational procedures, emergency response, and equipment protocols. This includes developing scenario-based training exercises, scheduling and leading regular drills across facility teams, and evaluating performance to identify gaps in readiness. You'll work closely with site operations leadership to ensure drills reflect real-world conditions, refining the program continuously based on outcomes and evolving safety standards.

Beyond training delivery, you will partner with Operations, Facilities, Procurement, Logistics, Standards & Governance, and site-level teams to help lay the foundation for Riot's broader Operations Strategy.

This is a remote/hybrid position with regular travel to Riot sites to support hands-on training for operations staff.

  • Maintains training documentation, tracks training completion, and ensures accurate and timely entry of qualification and training records into learning management systems.
  • Administers technical assessments, skills checks, and practical evaluations to validate employee competency and readiness to safely perform assigned data center responsibilities.
  • Conducts and supports training audits, reviews, and quality checks to ensure training content, delivery, documentation, and qualification records meet established standards.
  • Partners with training management and data center operational leadership to align technical training activities with business priorities, operational requirements, and employee development needs.
  • Identifies technical training gaps and improvement opportunities through employee feedback, operational observations, assessment results, performance data, and training metrics.
  • Coaches and mentor’s trainers and learners by providing constructive feedback, reinforcing technical standards, and promoting consistent instructional practices across teams.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, safety, accountability, and operational readiness within data center operations.
  • Supports the development of technical career pathways and qualification programs that strengthen employee capabilities and prepare team members for increased operational responsibilities.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in a data center, critical facilities, or mission-critical infrastructure environment, with working knowledge of power distribution, cooling systems, and electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • 7+ years of experience designing or delivering technical training programs, including curriculum development, certification processes, and adult learning principles.
  • Background in emergency response planning or drill/exercise design, ideally within an industrial, utility, or data center setting.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements relevant to critical infrastructure operations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E, or similar).
  • Experience facilitating in-person training or drills for technical or operations staff, with strong presentation and group facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Facilities, Procurement, Logistics, and Standards & Governance teams.
  • Experience evaluating training or drill outcomes and using data to refine program content and delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in data center operations.
  • Certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, or similar data center/critical facilities credentials.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to support training across multiple site locations.
