This role combines direct nursing care, individualized health education, and comprehensive case management. Responsibilities include maintaining regular contact with high-need students, triaging walk-in and phone concerns, coordinating referrals to community providers, managing student vaccination requirements, and collaborating with RISD staff, faculty, and administrators to promote student well-being and continuity of care.\nThe successful candidate will thrive in a campus environment that is committed to advancing the principles of social equity and inclusion, environmental and climate justice, and equal access to resources and opportunities.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:\nTriage presenting concerns, provide nursing assessment, and refer to a Nurse Practitioner as needed.\nManage incoming students' immunization compliance to ensure compliance with state regulations and institutional policies. Monitor, track, and report on student immunization compliance using the electronic medical record.\nMonitor medical providers’ inbox to ensure timely evaluation of critical results. \nReceive high-risk referral orders from the medical providers and the director to ensure students receive appropriate follow-up and understanding of clinical care plans. \nCoordinate care and transportation for students in emergent or urgent situations within the Health Services department.\nReview on-call reports received from campus partners, ensuring outreach, timely follow-up and continuity of care.\nProvide health counseling and education on a range of topics, including but not limited to: nutrition, eating concerns, alcohol and substance use, contraception, STI/HIV testing and prevention, and wellness promotion.\nProvide follow-up education and evaluation after a medical provider visit, including blood pressure monitoring and injection teaching.\nSupport campus wellness initiatives and contribute to outreach efforts addressing emerging health trends within the student population.\nFollow specific provider standing orders to administer immunizations, order asymptomatic STI testing, perform pregnancy testing, and administer emergency contraception to the student population.\nManage partnership with RIDOH to continue participation in the State Supplied Vaccine program, bringing free vaccinations to students on campus.\nKeep health education materials, brochures, and online resources current and responsive to student needs.\nFacilitate medical leaves of absence and returns, including documentation review, provider coordination, student interviews, recommendations, and follow-up support.\nMaintain accurate, timely documentation of student encounters and care plans in the EMR.\nAdditional Duties:\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nStay current with best practices in college health and case management by attending workshops, conferences, and trainings as approved.\nParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nRegistered Nurse professional license, current in state of Rhode Island required \nBLS certification required\nMinimum five years previous nursing experience required\nDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively, organize complex information, and work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team.\nEMR experience required\nExperience working with diverse populations, including international students, students from ethnically and racially diverse backgrounds, and LGBTQ+ students\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to make informed recommendations for student well-being\nFamiliarity with HIPAA, FERPA, and college health standards of practice\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) preferred \nExperience in adolescent, young adult and/or college health or ambulatory care setting preferred \nExperience in crisis response and management preferred\nUnion:\nNo\nWork Schedule:\n35 hours per week; 12 months per year\nEmployment Status:\nFull-time; Exempt; Regular\nGrade:\n550EX\nWork Modality\nOn-Campus\nDocuments Needed to Apply:\nResume (Required)\nCover Letter (Required)\nSalary Grade Structure\nIncomplete applications will not be considered.
