Guided by our STRIDE values - Safety, Teamwork, Responsibility, Integrity, Deliver, and Excellence - we foster a people focused culture of growth, mentorship and collaboration where safety always come first.\nWhat You'll Do\nReporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Commissioning Technologist is responsible to commission and test primary and secondary power equipment in the field which includes maintaining medium to high-voltage substation power delivery equipment such as breakers, switchgears, circuit breakers, relays and transformers. The Commissioning Technologist is also responsible to mentor and educate Apprentices including reading and interpreting blueprints, Risk Management, and industry best practices. The Commissioning Technologist also plays a leading role in setting up and operating standard as well as specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of power delivery equipment on the job site. \nKey Responsibilities\nThe responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:\nWork safely alongside all members of the construction crew\nAcceptance and maintenance testing of electrical equipment\nInstallation, commissioning and maintenance of protection and control equipment in medium to high-voltage transmission substations\nInterpret blueprints, analyze test reports and recommend corrective actions. \nWork with high voltage equipment such as Circuit breakers, transformers, switches and control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systems\nSupervise, mentor and train junior technicians\nCalibrate electronic equipment and instruments, when needed\nBe able to work with various types of manufacturer’s test equipment:\nTTR\nOmicron secondary test sets\nWinding resistance\nOmicron CPC 100\nCT saturator\nSchedule\nSchedule rotations range from 7 days on / 7 days off or 7 days on / 14 days off, etc.\nStandard workdays are 10 hours (7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)\nOvertime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week\nOut-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent)\nRequirements\nWhat We're Looking For\nDiploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution or Degree in Electrical Engineering\nMinimum of 1-3 years of experience in Field Testing and Commissioning\nPast supervisory experience will be an asset\nExperience in substation would be a major asset, ie. 144kV and 240kV\nExperience with relay testing with various equipment; Omicron, GE, Manta, Meggar\nFamiliar with all apparatus found in a HV substation\nPast experience with testing software will be beneficial (Omicron Test Universe, Doble M4000, AcSELerator, Seimens Digsi)\nCompetent and comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets.\nDedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.\nDemonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines. \nDemonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace. \nMust have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5 driver’s license. \nAble to work comfortably at heights\nAble to work alone or with minimal supervision \nWilling to work out of town and on rotation, i.e. 14 on 7 off work schedule\nAdditional Information\nThis position is designated as safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.\nBenefits\nBenefits\nCompetitive compensation with weekly pay periods \nOvertime opportunities (project dependent) \nGenerous paid time off \nRRSP-DPSP employer matching, increasing with years of service \nComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and disability) \nCompany-paid safety training \nAnnual PPE allowance provided for field-based employees (post-probation) \nOut-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent) \nTravel time to and from site will be paid at base rate, and travel provided by employer (project dependent) \nOngoing training, development, and career advancement opportunities \nEmployee Assistance Program (confidential counselling support) \nEmployee Referral Bonus Program \nWhy Rising Edge Group?\nSafety & Excellence: Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
