Guided by our STRIDE values - Safety, Teamwork, Responsibility, Integrity, Deliver, and Excellence - we foster a people focused culture of growth, mentorship and collaboration where safety always come first.\nWhat You'll Do\nReporting to the Discipline Lead - Automation and SCADA, the Senior SCADA Engineer serves as a technical authority developing, checking and approving SCADA design packages and configurations for automation systems and communication infrastructure in electrical facilities within the transmission and distribution, power generation, industrial, and renewable energy sectors. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will provide critical mentorship to the design team and develop processes and procedures. You will support project execution through clear strategy, deep technical expertise, and a proactive commitment to quality.\nKey Responsibilities\nThe responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:\nProvide expert guidance, training, and mentorship to the design team through project execution, QA/QC reviews, and technical development.\nDesign, thoroughly check, and approve automation and SCADA designs and configurations for transmission and distribution, power generation, industrial, and renewable energy facilities. \nAct as a lead technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects across utility infrastructure, wind farms, solar farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).\nPrepare, check or approve complete engineering and design packages, including schematics, wiring diagrams, network architecture drawings, load studies, configurations, bills of materials, and supporting documentation. \nReview and advise on equipment, client, and regulatory specifications and requirements for estimates, designs, reviews and project execution\nConfigure, program, and integrate SCADA systems, RTUs, PLCs, communication networks, and associated control equipment. \nDesign and implement communication networks utilizing industry-standard protocols, including IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5, DNP3, and Modbus. \nIncorporate cybersecurity best practices and applicable standards, including IEC 62351 and NERC CIP, into automation and communication system designs. \nConfigure, integrate, and troubleshoot equipment from manufacturers such as GE, Siemens, ABB, Eaton, SEL, Allen-Bradley, Survalent, Honeywell, AES, Palo Alto, and Fortinet. \nSupport project execution through all phases, including engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and field implementation. \nProvide field engineering support by diagnosing and resolving system configuration, communication, and integration issues during installation and commissioning. \nBalance office-based engineering and design responsibilities with on-site field support to ensure successful project delivery. \nCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, contractors, and vendors to develop effective technical solutions. \nEnsure all designs and deliverables comply with applicable CSA, ANSI, IEC, IEEE, client, and regulatory standards. \nUtilize engineering software and design tools, including MicroStation, AutoCAD, SEL acSELerator, and Microsoft Office, to develop and maintain project documentation. \nReview and revise existing designs, drawings, and control system configurations to improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability. \nParticipate in design reviews, technical evaluations, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities as required.\nAdditional Information\nAs a condition of employment, candidates will be required to complete pre-employment screening including professional reference checks and a criminal record check.\nRequirements\nWhat We're Looking For (Qualifications/Requirements)\nDegree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree required; or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution \nMust hold an active Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or (PL.Eng.) designation possessing immediate authority and willingness to stamp SCADA design packages and configurations.\n2 - 8+ years of experience in the Utilities industry is preferred but not required \nPrevious engineering or design experience in electrical facilities for the Transmission and Distribution, Power generation, Industrial and Renewables sectors is considered a strong asset.\nExperience in construction and field installations an asset\nProficient in medium/high voltage power engineering in electrical facilities for the Transmission and Distribution, Power generation, Industrial and Renewables sectors\nProficient ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics \nPossess strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously \nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills \nEligible for registration with APEGA\nDedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.\nDemonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines\nNavigate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks\nBenefits\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive compensation with weekly pay periods \nGenerous paid time off \nRRSP-DPSP employer matching, increasing with years of service \nComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and disability) \nOngoing training, development, and career advancement opportunities \nEmployee Assistance Program (confidential counselling support) \nEmployee Referral Bonus Program \nWhy Rising Edge Group?\nSafety & Excellence: Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
