These sentiments capture why we choose Riskified every day. \nAbout the Role\nAs an Engineering Manager at Riskified, you’ll lead a team of experienced engineers building real-time decisioning systems that protect merchants from abuse, such as fraudulent refunds and returns. This team plays a central role as Riskified continues to expand its merchant offerings.\nYou'll work closely with Product, and with Data Science, Analytics, data platform and operations teams. We're looking for a leader who cares about high-scale distributed systems, reliability and clean design, and who can bring focus to a domain with many stakeholders. You should also be an AI enthusiast who's eager to use AI in the product, across the development lifecycle and in how the team is managed.\nOur Tech Stack: Kubernetes, Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS), Kafka, Avro, gRPC, AWS, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, Redis, Databricks, Claude Code\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nLead the team in delivering high-quality products to production, and own the health of business-critical, real-time services.\nScale the product as it grows into new use cases, merchants and integrations.\nWork with Product Managers to shape the roadmap and turn business opportunities into clear plans.\nPartner with Data Science, analytics and data platform teams so that models and data move reliably between research and production.\nAlign priorities and dependencies across teams, including the operational teams that serve our merchants.\nFind and adopt AI-driven tools and methods that make the team more productive and the product more capable.\nMentor senior engineers, give them real ownership and grow future technical leaders.\nProvide consultation and solutions to customers and management on real business problems.\nQualifications\nMust: 3+ years of experience managing a team of engineers who run services in production.\nMust: 7+ years of hands-on experience developing high-scale backend distributed systems or microservices.\nExperience leading senior, experienced engineers, and the technical depth to guide architecture and design discussions.\nA strong track record of working with many stakeholders across functions, especially Product and Data Science.\nAI enthusiast: A proven interest in emerging AI tools and a track record of using them to improve workflows or products.\nExperience working in an Agile environment with a full CI/CD and DevOps culture.\nExperience with cloud-native microservices, SaaS environments and event-driven architectures.\nStrong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.\nB.Sc. in Computer Science or an equivalent degree or experience.\nAdvantages\nBackground in fraud, risk, e-commerce or payments.\nExperience with data-intensive or ML-driven products, such as working alongside Data Science.\nExperience working with large enterprise customers.\nLife at Riskified\nWe are a fast-growing and dynamic tech company with 750+ team members globally.
