Translate customer and business needs into system requirements, develop and evaluate system architectures, lead technical trade studies and proofs of concept, and prepare technologies for transition into NPD and other business initiatives.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\nPerform all activities in accordance with existing company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Lead cross-functional system architecture and technology-evaluation activities\nDevelop technical maturation plans, TRL criteria, and proof-of-concept objectives\nDefine system boundaries, architectures, interfaces, and performance requirements\nConduct trade studies, risk assessments, feasibility analyses, and make/buy evaluations\nDefine system verification, validation, and acceptance strategies\nTranslate product and business needs into clear, actionable system requirements through collaboration with Product Management and cross-functional engineering teams.\nEvaluate supplier technologies and their fit within product architectures\nMentor less experienced engineers in systems design and testing.\nMaintain a pipeline of technologies and document readiness for NPD\nAnalyze complex components or systems for design life and performance.\nPerform analytical modeling using calculations or simulation tools like MATLAB or Spice.\nWrite test procedures, set up, perform and monitor tests. Collect, reduce, analyze, present test data and draw appropriate conclusions based on the data.\nEffectively interface with internal contacts such as other engineers, designers, drafters, technicians, manufacturing, purchasing, sales and marketing.\nAttend field trips to install/troubleshoot prototype and/or service engineering field models (possible overnight travel).\nKeep current with technology advancements for the purpose of product and manufacturing improvements.\nResponsible for executing and supporting the quality system and procedures in the effort for continuous improvement.\nPRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:\nEstablish clear system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and technical success criteria for assigned technologies and product concepts.\nMature emerging technologies through structured evaluation, technical risk reduction, proofs of concept, and TRL assessment.\nEnsure system concepts address customer needs, business objectives, safety, reliability, cybersecurity, scalability, and product-platform requirements.\nProvide documented recommendations and transition plans that enable NPD teams to adopt mature technologies effectively.\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related engineering discipline, along with at least five years of relevant product-development experience. Advanced technical degree preferred (MS or PhD).\nSystems-engineering education, training, or professional certification, such as INCOSE ASEP or CSEP, is preferred but not required.\nExperience must include multidisciplinary product development involving system requirements, architecture, integration, controls, embedded systems, sensing, connectivity, verification, or related systems-engineering activities.\nStrong communication skills, product liability awareness, and excellent decision making abilities required\nWhat We Offer\nAt Rite-Hite, we take care of our people - because when you’re supported, you can do your best work.
