The role ensures reliable, secure connectivity for terminals, offices, data centers, cloud services, and business applications.\nThis engineer resolves complex incidents, executes controlled changes, maintains standards and documentation, supports projects and life-cycle upgrades, and participates in on-call coverage. The position collaborates with support, security, systems, telecom, application, and vendor teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nResponsibility AreaAccountabilitiesNetwork EngineeringDesign and implement routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, firewall, load-balancing, and data center network solutions.\n\nTranslate business and technical requirements into secure, supportable designs and implementation plans.\n\nDevelop standards, configurations, diagrams, test plans, and rollback procedures.\n\nEvaluate capacity, resilience, interoperability, and life-cycle risks.\n\nOperations and TroubleshootingMonitor network health, performance, availability, and capacity.\n\nDiagnose and resolve complex connectivity, routing, switching, wireless, security, and application-delivery issues.\n\nParticipate in on-call support and major-incident response.\n\nPerform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring problems.\n\nChange and Project DeliveryPlan, test, document, and execute network changes under approved controls.\n\nDeliver assigned upgrades, refreshes, site deployments, and infrastructure projects on schedule.\n\nCoordinate maintenance windows, vendors, carriers, field teams, and business stakeholders.\n\nValidate production readiness, monitoring, support handoff, and post-change results.\n\nSecurity and DocumentationImplement segmentation, access controls, secure configurations, and vulnerability remediation.\n\nMaintain accurate logical and physical diagrams, inventories, standards, configurations, and procedures.\n\nSupport audits, disaster-recovery tests, and security investigations.\n\nShare knowledge and provide technical guidance to network support personnel.\n\nQualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.\n\nActive CCNA certification or equivalent knowledge and experience.\n\nExperience\n5 or more years of enterprise network engineering experience preferred.\n\nExperience supporting routing, switching, wireless, security, WAN, and data center network architectures.\n\nExperience leading technical changes, troubleshooting complex incidents, and delivering projects.\n\nExperience working with vendors, carriers, support teams, and business stakeholders.\n\nTechnical Competencies\nCisco routing and switching; Palo Alto security; F5 application delivery; Aruba SD-WAN; Cradlepoint or comparable technologies.\n\nTCP/IP, routing protocols, VLANs, QoS, wireless, VPN, firewall, load balancing, DNS, DHCP, and network monitoring.\n\nSolarWinds or comparable monitoring and performance-analysis tools.\n\nNetwork automation, configuration management, change control, and technical documentation.\n\nProfessional Competencies\nStructured troubleshooting and sound technical judgment.\n\nClear communication during incidents, changes, and project work.\n\nStrong ownership, follow-through, and operational discipline.\n\nCollaboration, mentoring, and constructive peer review.\n\nBenefits: R+L Carriers offers an excellent compensation and comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matching contributions, Paid Vacation & Holidays, and vacation lodging at our exclusive employee resorts in Daytona Beach, FL, Big Bear Lake, CA, Pigeon Forge, TN, and Ocean Isle Beach, NC.\nAbout Us: R+L Carriers is a family owned, privately held transportation company founded in 1965.
