In this role, you’ll work with SCADA, distribution automation, and ADMS technologies to develop system solutions, troubleshoot complex technical challenges, and support testing and commissioning of critical grid infrastructure while collaborating with utility clients, engineering teams, and field personnel\nWhat You’ll Do:\nInstall, configure, test, and commission SCADA systems, RTUs, PLCs, and distribution automation equipment at substations and utility facilities\nPerform point-to-point testing of signals, alarms, measurements, and remote control functions\nTroubleshoot control panels, field devices, SCADA systems, and communication networks to resolve wiring, hardware, software, and connectivity issues\nConfigure and validate communication protocols, including DNP3, Modbus, and OPC UA\nDevelop and troubleshoot PLC programs using Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and Ladder Logic\nTest and integrate distribution equipment, including reclosers, capacitor banks, and transformers, with SCADA systems\nSupport SCADA database configuration, device mapping, control logic validation, and ADMS integration\nConduct field inspections and functional testing to verify equipment performance and compliance with project specifications\nPrepare commissioning reports, test results, as-built drawings, and technical documentation\nCoordinate field activities with utility customers, engineering teams, contractors, and equipment vendors\nProvide technical support during startup, commissioning, and post-installation troubleshooting\nFollow applicable electrical safety procedures, site requirements, and industry standards, including NERC CIP requirements where applicable\nThe Experience We’re Looking For:\n3+ years of experience with SCADA design, programming, and commissioning in Ignition\nStrong understanding of ladder logic, tags, alarm pipelines, gateway servers, edge line servers, transaction groups, recipe management, UDTs, Ignition templates, and historizing data\nKnowledge of networking principles as they apply to SCADA\nPython scripting skills\nFamiliarity with Modbus, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, MQTT, OPC UA, and SQL\nStrong understanding of electrical hardware, drawings, sequence control, and software design\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\nExcellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and coordination skills\nStrong communication skills and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams\nAdditional Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related field \nWillingness to travel up to 75% for field-based work across the U.S.\nMust successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests\nValid driver’s license \nAvailable to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed\nAble to lift 50+ lbs., crawl, climb, and perform hands-on work in the field\nMust complete annual safety training; some training may require out-of-state travel\nMust have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking\nWhy Join RMS Energy:\nWe’re not just another power services company.
