In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee transformer assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance, bringing deep technical expertise to complex service jobs while guiding and developing the next generation of technicians. From oil processing and component replacement to critical field testing, you’ll set the standard for safety, quality, and performance while helping keep America’s power running strong. At RMS Energy, your leadership won’t just support projects, it will power progress.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nSupervise transformer assembly, including radiators, bushings, conservators, and accessories\nLead degassing operations, pressure/vacuum testing, and oil sampling procedures\nManage re-gasketing and O-ring fabrication, and installation\nOversee teardown and prep of damaged units for transport or disposal\nTroubleshoot and repair transformer control wiring and ensure safety and reliability\nConduct advanced transformer testing: Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, Core Ground, and passivation/system protection alarms\nPerform OEM, utility, and customer-mandated electrical tests\nDocument and submit test results with a high degree of accuracy\nMaintain safe use and condition of tools, vehicles, and testing equipment\nEnforce strict compliance with safety protocols, especially environmental containment\nOperate construction and industrial equipment safely within load/capacity limits\nFollow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas\nThe Experience We’re Looking For:\n7+ years of experience in transformer oil work, testing, assembly, or service\nExperience interpreting scopes, drawings, and technical documents\nAdvanced Load Tap Changer experience\nBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office and online platforms\nAdditional Requirements:\nWillingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.\nHigh school diploma or GED \nValid driver’s license \nMust pass a DOT physical\nMust successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests\nLegally authorized to work in the United States\nAvailable for extended and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays\nPhysically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, working outdoors in all weather, at heights (100+ ft), in confined spaces, and around high-voltage equipment\nRequires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments\nBonus Points for:\nPrior experience leading transformer service teams\nUnderstanding of transformer oil testing procedures and reporting\nFamiliarity with transformer disposal preparation \nKnowledge of oil processing and degassing best practices \nClass A CDL, OSHA, and/ or TWIC card\nTechnical training or certification in transformer repair or electrical systems\nExperience with transformer testing software or OEM systems\nWhy Join RMS Energy:\nWe’re not just another power services company.
