Employment decisions are based on qualifications, experience, and business needs, consistent with applicable law.\nPosition Summary\nThe Senior High Voltage Technician is responsible for the testing, commissioning, maintenance,\ntroubleshooting, and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment and systems. This position serves as a\ntechnical leader in the field, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of power delivery infrastructure including\nsubstations, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, breakers, and associated control systems. The Senior\nHigh Voltage Technician provides technical guidance to junior personnel, supports project execution, and\nensures compliance with all applicable safety standards and procedures.\nKey Responsibilities\nTesting & Commissioning\nPerform acceptance, maintenance, and diagnostic testing of high-voltage electrical equipment.\nCommission new substations, transformers, breakers, switchgear, capacitors, reactors, and protection systems.\nConduct electrical testing including:\no Transformer testing\no Circuit breaker testing\no Protective relay testing\no Current transformer (CT) and potential transformer (PT) testing\no Insulation resistance testing\no Power factor / dissipation factor testing\no Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA)\no Turns Ratio Testing (TTR)\no Battery and charger testing\no Ground grid testing\no Cable testing and fault location\nMaintenance & Troubleshooting\nDiagnose and resolve failures in substation equipment and power systems.\nAnalyze electrical test results and identify equipment degradation or abnormal conditions.\nDevelop corrective action plans and recommend repairs or replacements.\nSupport emergency outage response and system restoration activities.\nTechnical Leadership\nLead field crews during testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.\nMentor and train junior technicians on equipment testing practices and safe work procedures.\nReview testing procedures, commissioning plans, and technical reports.\nProvide technical expertise during project planning and execution.\nDocumentation & Reporting\nPrepare detailed field service reports and test documentation.\nMaintain accurate records of testing, maintenance, and commissioning activities.\nReview engineering drawings, schematics, protection settings, and construction documentation.\nEnsure all work complies with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.\nSafety & Compliance\nPromote a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.\nLead job safety briefings and hazard assessments.\nEnsure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NERC, IEEE, and company safety requirements.\nMaintain qualifications and certifications required for energized and high-risk work activities.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation\nAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Power Systems Technology, or a related field; or Equivalent combination of technical training and industry experience.\nExperience\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-\nvoltage power systems.\nDemonstrated experience with transmission and distribution substations from 4 kV through 500 kV.\nExperience leading field crews and commissioning projects.\nTechnical Knowledge\nStrong understanding of:\no Power transformers\no Protective relaying systems\no High-voltage circuit breakers\no Medium- and high-voltage switchgear\no Control circuits\no SCADA systems\no Electrical protection and control schemes\no Electrical power system analysis and diagnostics\nCertifications (Preferred)\nNETA Level III or IV Certification\nNICET Certification\nOSHA 30-Hour Certification\nNFPA 70E Training\nFirst Aid / CPR Certification\nRequired Skills\nAdvanced troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.\nStrong leadership and mentoring skills.\nExcellent communication and technical writing capabilities.\nAbility to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings.\nProficiency with electrical test equipment and software platforms.\nEffective project planning and organizational skills.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions.\nFrequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and use of personal protective equipment.\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to climb ladders, access elevated structures, and work
