Join Our Team.\nAbout the role\nThe S&B Solar Technician III is responsible for assisting the Site\nLead / Field Manager / Plant Manager in operation of the site and technicians from safety, solar and\nbattery scheduled & unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, outages, inspections, HV/MV\nswitching, oversight of technician teams & contractors and other activities and ensure compliance for\nall technicians on site. In this position you shall have knowledge and experience in renewable energy\nsolar & battery operations, maintenance, BESS operations, switching and Lock Out Tag Out for PV, BESS,\nsubstation components as well as collection systems. This is an entry level leadership field position.\nResponsibilities\nYou will assist with oversight of the technicians in the field, leading by example\nand training other employees in S&B operations, electrical safety and best work practices.\nAs the S&B Solar Technician III, you will\nReside or relocate within 1 hour of the project.\nSupport technicians and assist with project management at site.\nWork with site leadership with the development of customers’ annual maintenance plans and ensure maintenance on completed on time.\nSchedule, plan and execute work to minimize downtime and ensure team safety.\nManage CMMS work order reviews for accuracy and out-of-scope billing.\nTrack inspections, schedules, and parts consumption through CMMS.\nLead by example-set the standard for safety, quality, and excellence.\nHelps to identify site performance issues and develop plans for corrective action, ideally during scheduled maintenance.\nEnsure equipment integrity with only approved solutions, hardware, and software forequipment.\n\nPerform quality checks to confirm technician and contractor work meets standards.\nInspect and troubleshoot DC systems, combiner boxes, and string performance.\nEnsure all work performed is documented and maintain compliance with safety standards.(OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E)\n\nCollaborate with peers and clients to ensure project success.\nEffectively communicate issues and solutions to leadership for resolution.\nWork with Inventory Control to make sure projects are supplied properly with parts and consumables.\nAble to participate and respond in an On-Call 24/7/365 rotation schedule.\nUnderstand the fundamentals of mechanics, electricity, electronics, PLC’s, and hydraulics to solve mechanical and electrical problems.\nLearn to interface with equipment PLCs to program, analyze performance and troubleshoot problems.\nEnjoy the challenges associated with troubleshooting, maintaining, and problem solving on renewable energy equipment.\nPerform module swaps and replacements in accordance with site standards.\nDiagnose and repair tracker system components (gearboxes, actuators, drives, motors, etc.)\nAssist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.\nSupport experienced technicians with troubleshooting tasks.\nMaintain safety training and Qualified Electrical Worker requirements as a Solar Technician III\nParticipate in safety briefings and enforce LOTO procedures.\nAdheres to, supports, and enforces all company policies\nLearn the fundamentals of mechanics, electricity, electronics, PLC’s, and hydraulics to solve mechanical and electrical problems\nLearn to interface with equipment PLCs to program, analyze performance and troubleshoot problems\nWork safely in and around energized (up to 500 kV) substations rated, transmission lines, andcollection systems performing thorough inspections of substations, collection and\ntransmission systems.\n\nUnderstands and capable of creating an electrically safe working condition to troubleshootequipment problems and issues to the component level to remove and replace faulty\nelectrical components. (i.e. Motors, Auxiliary relays, coils, etc.)\n\nUtilize test equipment such as HV thumpers with TDR to Locate and repair underground cablefaults within collection systems. Perform collections system repairs to underground systems\nand utilize test equipment such as Megohm meters and VLF to prove repairs.\n\nPerform standard OEM and NETA preventative and predictive maintenance and testing onsubstation and collection system equipment utilizing all various types, kinds and models of\ntest equipment. (i.e. Power Factor, SFRA, TTR, DLRO, CB Analyzer, Vacuum Bottle tester, SF6\nanalyzer, Megohm meter)\n\nAssist in Authoring, verifying and performing switching orders/procedures.\nTrain and mentor developing technicians in electrical safety and proper maintenance of equipment.\nPerform required testing and develop reports as to findings and any recommended repairs.\nPerform substation battery maintenance and testing.\nEnjoy the challenges associated with troubleshooting, maintaining, and problem solving on renewable energy equipment\nTravel as needed for training or to assist other projects.\nPerform all other duties as assigned.\nQualifications\n5+ years of experience in Leadership, Solar & BESS Operations, High, Medium, and LowVoltage maintenance and testing of electrical power equipment.\n\nExperience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers,switchgear, air switches, URD and XLPE cable and components, and similar equipment.\n\nCapable of trouble shooting distribution and transmission controls circuits.\nLead investigations of electrical related issues, including root cause analysis as needed.\nExcellent in Microsoft office software, written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to operate test equipment needed for the project.\nAbility to function as an on-Solar Technician III for the project, schedule, assigntasks, prioritize activities and interface with customers.\n\nAbility to read and fully understand protection and control schematic diagrams and wiringdiagrams and catch mistakes and problems with the drawings and design when comparing\nwith accepted engineering and customer standards.\n\nAbility to determine and interpret customer requirements and provide final deliverablesincluding as built prints and all test results meeting specified requirements.\n\nDirect experience with pertinent substation and collection system equipment desired.\nStrong interpersonal and leadership skills\nEffective communication and critical thinking skills.
