You'll work on high-scale, data-intensive systems spanning claims processing, telematics, and policy administration, partnering closely with product, data, and DevOps teams to ship reliable, secure, and performant systems.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable, secure backend services and RESTful/GraphQL APIs powering Roadzen's insurtech products.\nArchitect microservices and distributed systems that handle high-volume, real-time data such as telematics feeds, claims, and policy records.\nOwn data modeling and database design across relational and NoSQL stores, optimizing for performance, consistency, and scale.\nDrive system design decisions, including service boundaries, caching strategy, async messaging, and API contracts.\nEnsure production reliability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and robust error handling.\nWrite clean, well-tested, maintainable code and uphold strong code review standards across the team.\nCollaborate closely with frontend, DevOps, product, and data teams to ship features end-to-end.\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to technical roadmap and architecture decisions.\nRequirements:\n7-8 years of professional backend software development experience.\nStrong hands-on expertise in one or more of Node.js/TypeScript, Java/Spring Boot, or Python (Django/FastAPI).\nDeep understanding of system design principles for high-scale, high-availability distributed systems.\nProven experience designing and building RESTful/GraphQL APIs consumed by multiple clients.\nStrong database skills across relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis/DynamoDB) systems, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.\nExperience with message queues/event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS) for async and high-throughput processing.\nSolid grasp of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).\nTrack record of building and scaling systems that handle large data volumes and high request throughput.\nStrong understanding of security best practices: authentication, authorization, data encryption, and API security.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex production issues.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.\nGood to Have:\nExperience in insurtech, insurance, fintech, or other regulated/compliance-heavy domains.\nExposure to telematics, IoT data pipelines, or claims and policy management systems.\nExperience with real-time data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink).\nFamiliarity with observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).\nPrior experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.\nContributions to open-source projects or technical
