The hard part is finding the seats. Award space is scattered across dozens of airline and hotel programs, it moves constantly, and the best deals get taken. Doing it by hand means hours across a dozen browser tabs, and often days.\nRoame finds those deals in seconds. Members also book hotels through us and get our commission rebated back to them immediately. Roame was founded by Tim and Zi. Tim spent the previous decade covering consumer and travel companies on the hedge fund side. Zi ran data encryption systems at Airbnb.\nWe started Roame after losing dozens of hours hunting for first class award space to Asia across a dozen browser tabs. Award travel is a data problem. Humans shouldn't have to solve it by hand.\nWhy join Roame now?\nProfitable. We run on revenue, not runway. We can start multi year technical work and actually finish it.\n\nLoved product. We're the default tool for a lot of the points and miles community, and our users are vocal about it.\n\nScope. This is the top engineering role at the company. There is no larger org above it.\n\nAI native. A large share of our engineering is agent assisted and our whole workflow is built around it.\n\nAbout the role\nOwn engineering at Roame. You would be the most senior engineer here, reporting to the founders.\nSet technical direction across our Go backend and web app. We also ship a native iOS app, and every API decision has an iOS client on the other end of it. You need to account for that, not build it.\nFinish our move to a modern Go service architecture and retire what's left of the old one.\nOwn correctness where money moves: booking, checkout, payments.\nSet the engineering bar on testing, review, documentation, and hiring.\nGrow into the senior most technical role at the company as we scale.\nHow we work\nWrite it down before building it. Specs and architecture live in the repo.\nTest first. Most work starts from a written test plan.\nShip in small increments. Days, not sprints.\nNothing waits until tomorrow if it can go out today.\nDisagree out loud, early, to the person. Then pick something and move.\nNo task is beneath anyone.\nSpoon feed yourself, learning is free, generate a video from the code and learn it\nYour first 90 days\nWeek 1. Ship something to production. Small is fine. Nobody here spends a week reading code before they touch it.\n\nDay 30. You own a meaningful piece of the booking and checkout path and have shipped a significant update to it.\n\nDay 60. You own the migration plan. Your sequencing, your call on what gets cut.\n\nDay 90. A major piece of our legacy architecture is retired, and you know exactly what it takes to finish off the rest.\n\nOn AI\nWe use it constantly and we want someone who loves it as much as we do.\nAI writes great code and it writes bad code, sometimes in the same file. Getting the good version every time is the actual skill, and it's the one we're hiring for. Knowing what to specify up front. Knowing when a human has to stay in the loop. Knowing when to throw the output away instead of patching it. Building the guardrails that make good output the default instead of the lucky case.\nOur habits around specs and tests exist because they're what make agent assisted work trustworthy at speed.\nWhat we're looking for\n4 to 6+ years of engineering experience, post-grad\nConfident you're a 10x engineer, and able to tell us why.\nStrong in Go and comfortable in TypeScript. Mobile experience isn't required, but you should think in terms of a mobile client when you design an API.\nYou've owned a system and answered for it when it broke, you understand resilience\nYou've finished a hard migration, not just started one.\nYou've shipped code that moved real money.\nOpinions about how engineering teams should run that stuck somewhere before.\nYou want to lead without giving up writing code.\nYou understand distributed engineering\nYou understand that this is a living, breathing system; hours keep it moving; this isn’t a 40 hours a week job\nProbably not a fit\nYou want every day to be greenfield. This is a three year old codebase with real debt.\nYou'd rewrite before you understand.\nYou need priorities handed to you.\nYou cannot distinguish between slop and non-slop.\nYou're comfortable letting something sit until next sprint.\nYou bite off more than you can chew; unable to strategically land impact and releases.\nYou have a general disinterest for travel\nYou’re easily frustrated by hard problems\nTechnology\nGo, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Postgres, Protobuf. Swift on iOS, which you won't be expected to write.\n$175-250k base depending on experience and location in the US\n0.5%-2% equity\nA chat with CTO, questions regarding past\nChat with CEO\nIf all goes well with the phone screen, we would like to start a one to three month paid trial, we’re looking for signals on ownership and product obsession, we hope to close good candidates asap during the trial\nOffer Stage","description_format":"text","description_chars":5082,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Travel Technology","Buy Now, Pay Later"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-08-27T23:54:31Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":26,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.571,"p_room":0.45,"age_days":50,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:1","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-10-17T05:46:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":250000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/roame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/roame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-17T15:39:36Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":21203,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-18T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":9361},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=9361"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Froame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Froame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Froame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/roame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Froame-lead-full-stack-engineer-2"}]}
