Join Roche, where every voice matters.\nThe Position\n2027 Summer Intern - Systems & Hardware Development\nWe advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.\nDepartment Summary\nThe Systems & Hardware Development Chapter at Roche designs, integrates, and sustains automated diagnostic instrumentation for pathology labs to advance cancer care. Bringing together mechanical, electrical, systems, and material science engineers alongside skilled technicians, the team covers the entire product lifecycle-from concept and V&V testing to manufacturing and on-market support.\nThis internship position is located in Tucsonon-site.\nThe Opportunity\nLearns and applies company concepts, policies, and procedures.\nFollows standard practices under the guidance and supervision of experienced engineers.\nWorks on projects of limited to moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.\nParticipates in technical team activities and collaborates with team members on various engineering projects.\nPresents and discusses data within the group, contributing to team knowledge sharing.\nMakes suggestions to improve work processes and overall efficiency.\nAssists in the reduction to practice of patentable inventions.\nProgram Highlights\n Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.\n Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).\nA stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.\nOwnership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.\nWork with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.\nWhat you will learn\nData driven decision making.\nEngineering design methodologies and best practices.\nAdvanced analytical techniques and best practices.\nMultiple aspects of Design Control relating to Engineering, Requirements, Risk Management, Detailed Design, Prototyping, Integration, Testing and Release.\nThis internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering projects, applying classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios.\nWho You Are\nRequired Education\nYou meet one of the following criteria:\nMust be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).\nMust be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).\nMust be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).\nRequired Majors: Systems engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Computer Science, Cell & Molecular Biology, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Microbiology, Computational Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or any science/engineering related discipline.\nRequired Skills\nFamiliarity with searching technical literature.\nBasic knowledge of and ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software applications.\nUnderstanding of basic systems engineering techniques and principles.\nAbility to follow detailed directions and learn from supervision.\nAn interest in increasing quality and promoting a \"Quality First Time\" mindset.\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications\nEntry level; prior internship or coursework in science or engineering preferred.\nExcellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.\nComplements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.\nAdditional Information\nThis internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering projects, applying classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios.\nInterns will receive guidance and support to help them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.\nRelocation benefits are not available for this job posting.\nThe expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $25.00-$52.00 hour.
