The Position
Job description
We are seeking a Principal Business Systems Analyst to help design, define, and scale technology solutions supporting commercial organizations across the US and global affiliates. You will operate at the intersection of business, product, data, and engineering, translating complex and ambiguous business problems into clear technical requirements and scalable solutions. You will partner with product managers, software engineers, data engineers, architects, data scientists, and commercial stakeholders across enterprise applications, data platforms, cloud services, analytics, APIs, and AI/GenAI capabilities. Hands-on software development is not required, but strong technical fluency is essential.
Description of the area
360 Insights Engineering builds and evolves commercial technology, data, analytics, and AI capabilities used across the US and global affiliates. The team partners across markets to identify where capabilities should be globally standardized versus locally configurable, while accounting for differences in processes, data, regulations, and operating models.
Job Responsibilities
Partner with business and product leaders to understand complex commercial problems, lead discovery, challenge assumptions, and translate needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
Define user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, process flows, data requirements, system behaviors, and traceability from business objectives through implementation and validation.
Decompose large, ambiguous initiatives into well-defined capabilities and engineering-ready requirements while proactively identifying scope, dependencies, edge cases, data issues, and operational risks.
Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, participating confidently in discussions on system architecture, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, data pipelines, integrations, authentication/authorization, and AI services.
Partner with architects and engineers to evaluate solution approaches, technical constraints, dependencies, and trade-offs, and review designs to ensure solutions satisfy business requirements and can scale across markets.
Use SQL to investigate data, validate assumptions, troubleshoot issues, and support requirements definition, including relational models, joins, aggregations, data quality, and upstream/downstream dependencies.
Translate analytical and reporting needs into clear data definitions, metrics, business rules, and transformations, partnering with data engineering and analytics teams on models, pipelines, reporting, and commercial analytics capabilities.
Partner with product, engineering, and data science teams to identify AI/GenAI opportunities, translate them into measurable workflows, requirements, guardrails, and acceptance criteria, and ensure they solve real business problems.
Apply working knowledge of LLMs, prompting, RAG, agents, model limitations, evaluation, and enterprise AI integration patterns when shaping AI-enabled solutions.
Support products serving the US, Canada, Brazil, and other global affiliates by coordinating requirements across markets and balancing global standardization with appropriate local configuration.
Work effectively across distributed teams, functions, and time zones, driving alignment and clear decisions in complex, cross-functional environments.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
Experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar technology-facing role, with demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured technical requirements.
Strong hands-on proficiency with SQL and the ability to independently analyze and validate data.
Strong experience with Jira and Confluence, including writing high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, requirements, and technical documentation.
Experience partnering directly with software engineers, data engineers, architects, product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
Strong analytical problem-solving, written and verbal communication, ownership, and continuous improvement mindset.
Experience operating across complex, distributed, or global organizations and managing multiple priorities and dependencies.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of REST APIs, system integrations, relational databases and data models, cloud-based applications and services, distributed-system fundamentals, authentication/authorization, data pipelines, and analytics platforms.
Ability to read and reason about architecture diagrams, API specifications, data models, and system workflows.
Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern cloud architecture patterns.
Working knowledge of AI/GenAI concepts including LLMs, prompting, RAG, agents, model evaluation, model limitations, guardrails, and enterprise AI integration patterns.
Ability to use GenAI tools to accelerate requirements analysis, research, documentation, data exploration, process mapping, solution design, and lightweight prototyping while critically validating generated outputs.
Ability to recognize when AI should and should not be used, particularly with sensitive enterprise data, regulated information, and business-critical decisions.
Familiarity with commercial technology and data domains such as CRM, customer engagement, field operations, sales analytics, targeting/segmentation, marketing technology, or commercial data platforms.
Additional Qualifications
Experience in commercial life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare technology, or another regulated industry is strongly preferred.
Experience supporting technology products across multiple countries or global business units is preferred.
Experience defining or delivering AI/GenAI-enabled products, including enterprise LLM, RAG, agent, or AI evaluation use cases, is preferred.
Experience with large-scale analytical platforms or complex enterprise datasets is preferred.
Ability to create lightweight prototypes, workflow concepts, diagrams, analyses, and proof-of-concepts using AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
Continuously explores emerging AI capabilities and incorporates useful tools and techniques into day-to-day work.
Experience in highly scaled technology, retail, or digital organizations such as Google, Meta, Amazon, or comparable companies is valued where candidates demonstrate strong product, data, and systems thinking.
