We are looking for a Platform Architect / Senior Solution Architect to lead the design and evolution of our Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and Data Streaming platforms.\nIn this role, you will define and drive the architectural vision for scalable, secure, and high-performance data integration platforms, enabling real-time data flow across the enterprise. You will play a critical role in transforming how Roche leverages streaming data to accelerate insights and improve patient outcomes.\nYour Mission\nYou will act as a technical and architectural leader, responsible for designing business-driven, standards-based, and future-ready solutions across complex, multi-product ecosystems.\nYou will:\nEstablish and evolve event-driven and streaming architecture patterns\n\nDrive platform strategy and roadmap for Kafka, Solace, and related technologies\n\nEnsure solutions meet non-functional requirements (NFRs) including scalability, resiliency, security, and observability\n\nEnable enterprise-wide adoption of streaming and event-driven integration\n\nKey Responsibilities\nArchitecture Leadership & Strategy\nDefine and communicate a shared architectural vision for Data Streaming and Event-Driven platforms\n\nDevelop and maintain the technology roadmap, aligning with Roche’s enterprise architecture strategy\n\nDrive reference architectures, patterns, and integration standards for EDA and streaming\n\nLead architecture governance, including Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and design reviews\n\nSolution Design & Delivery\nDesign end-to-end event-driven solutions across business domains\n\nCreate conceptual and logical data models, taxonomies, and integration patterns\n\nEnsure solutions are fit-for-purpose, balancing emergent design with long-term sustainability\n\nEmbed observability, resilience, and performance engineering into platform designs\n\nPlatform Ownership (Kafka / Solace / Streaming Ecosystem)\nLead architecture for data streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Solace, Kinesis)\n\nDefine topic design, event schemas, and data contracts\n\nEnsure high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-region architectures\n\nDrive platform scalability, security, and governance\n\nInnovation & Continuous Improvement\nEvaluate and pilot emerging technologies and trends in EDA and streaming\n\nConduct proofs of concept (PoCs) and feasibility studies\n\nIdentify opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve platform efficiency\n\nPromote reuse of integration patterns across the enterprise\n\nStakeholder Collaboration\nPartner with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders\n\nFacilitate workshops to define business processes and integration needs\n\nAlign with enterprise architects and contribute to architecture communities\n\nCommunicate complex concepts clearly and influence decision-making\n\nYour Profile\nExperience\n5+ years as a Solution Architect / Platform Architect\n\nProven experience designing event-driven and streaming architectures in enterprise environments\n\nHands-on experience with platforms such as:\nApache Kafka / Confluent Kafka\n\nSolace Event Broker\n\nAWS streaming services (Kinesis, MSK)\n\nExperience in highly regulated industries (pharma, healthcare, finance) is a plus\n\nTechnical Expertise\nDeep knowledge of:\nEvent-Driven Architecture (EDA) and Streaming patterns\n\nData lifecycle management (ingestion, integration, governance, analytics)\n\nCloud platforms, especially AWS\n\nStrong understanding of:\nDistributed systems, networking, security, and data platforms\n\nDisaster Recovery & Business Continuity strategies\n\nData modeling, event schemas, and topic hierarchies\n\nArchitecture & Leadership Skills\nAbility to define reference architectures, NFRs, and fitness functions\n\nExperience managing complex, multi-solution landscapes\n\nStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills\n\nProven ability to mentor and guide engineering teams\n\nSoft Skills\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management\n\nAbility to influence and negotiate across teams\n\nStrategic mindset with a hands-on, pragmatic approach\n\nWhat You Bring to Roche Data Integration Team\nA passion for solving complex integration challenges\n\nA mindset focused on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement\n\nThe ability to connect business needs with cutting-edge technology\n\nA drive to build platforms that scale globally and impact patient outcomes\n\nWhy Roche\nAt Roche, you will work in a diverse, inclusive, and purpose-driven environment, where technology directly contributes to improving lives.
