We are seeking an experienced Frontend Developer with strong React, React Router, and TypeScript skills to build and continuously improve a headless ecommerce storefront running on Cloudflare Workers and backed by our own commerce platform. This is primarily a frontend position (roughly 80% frontend, 20% backend). Most of your time will go into the React storefront: product and collection pages, search, cart, checkout, and customer accounts. The storefront talks to our Python/Django backend over a typed JSON API, and you'll make small, well-scoped backend changes when a frontend feature needs them, such as adding a field to an API response or a new endpoint, with support from the backend team.
You'll work in an established, well-tested codebase and collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to build polished ecommerce experiences, troubleshoot issues, evaluate feature feasibility, and recommend practical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve a server-rendered React storefront using React Router (framework mode) and TypeScript
- Build responsive, accessible interfaces with HTML, CSS, and Tailwind CSS
- Consume our REST/JSON API (types generated from its OpenAPI schema) for products, variants, collections, search, cart, checkout, orders, and accounts
- Build and maintain the checkout experience with Stripe Elements
- Build pages and content components with the Storyblok headless CMS
- Translate business requirements and rough mockups into intuitive, functional ecommerce experiences
- Evaluate proposed features for technical feasibility and recommend alternatives when API or platform limitations exist
- Troubleshoot issues across the storefront, the API, browser behavior, and third-party integrations
- Make light backend changes in Python/Django (API fields, small endpoints, tests) when a frontend feature needs them
- Implement and troubleshoot analytics and marketing integrations (GA4, Klaviyo)
- Support ecommerce SEO requirements including redirects, canonical tags, structured data, breadcrumbs, metadata, and indexability
- Improve frontend performance (Core Web Vitals), usability, and maintainability
- Write unit tests (Vitest, Testing Library) and end-to-end tests (Playwright) as part of a test-first workflow
- Communicate technical constraints, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical team members
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Hands-on experience with React Router 7 / Remix or a similar server-rendering React framework (e.g. Next.js)
- Experience building or maintaining ecommerce storefronts (product pages, faceted search, cart, checkout)
- Experience consuming REST/JSON APIs and integrating third-party services
- Working knowledge of a backend language and framework, preferably Python/Django, enough to read the code and make small changes
- Experience writing automated tests for frontend code
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including browser dev tools and network inspection
- Proficiency with Git and pull-request-based workflows
- Ability to work within and improve an existing codebase
Frontend / Product
- Strong UI/UX judgment
- Ability to translate business requirements or rough mockups into functional interfaces
- Understanding of responsive and accessible frontend development
- Ability to identify technical or usability limitations before implementation
- Ability to recommend practical alternatives when a requested approach is not technically appropriate
Communication
- Excellent English communication skills
- Able to clearly explain technical constraints and tradeoffs to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned work
