from the database and APIs all the way to the interactions a customer sees in the browser - this role is for you.\nWhat will you do?\nAs a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you will own meaningful parts of the Rocketlane product from design through production.\nYou will:\nDesign and build features end-to-end across our React frontend and Java backend.\n\nWork closely with Product and Design to turn customer problems into simple, thoughtful product experiences.\n\nBuild polished, performant user experiences for complex SaaS workflows.\n\nDesign clean APIs, data models, and backend services that can scale as our customers and usage grow.\n\nSolve challenging product problems involving real-time collaboration, rich interactive experiences, workflow automation, large datasets, and highly configurable enterprise use cases.\n\nMake thoughtful architectural decisions across frontend, backend, database, caching, and asynchronous processing.\n\nOwn the performance and reliability of what you build - from browser performance through API latency and database queries.\n\nDebug complex issues across the entire stack rather than stopping at service boundaries.\n\nWrite maintainable, well-tested code and raise the quality bar through thoughtful code reviews.\n\nIdentify technical debt and proactively improve architecture, developer experience, observability, and engineering productivity.\n\nMentor engineers and help the team make better technical decisions.\n\nTake ownership of features in production and work with the team to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.\n\nParticipate actively in engineering design discussions and influence how Rocketlane's technology evolves.\n\nYou should apply if\nFrontend\nYou are comfortable with:\nReact and modern JavaScript/TypeScript\n\nSPA architecture and component design\n\nHTML and CSS\n\nState management and complex client-side application flows\n\nBrowser fundamentals such as caching, storage, networking, and rendering\n\nBuilding reusable components and maintainable frontend architecture\n\nFrontend performance profiling and optimization\n\nBuilding responsive and high-quality product experiences\n\nExperience with real-time applications, WebSockets, large data-heavy interfaces, rich editors, or spreadsheet-like experiences is a plus.\nBackend\nYou have strong fundamentals in:\nJava and Spring or similar backend frameworks\n\nHTTP and REST API design\n\nPostgreSQL or other relational databases\n\nData modelling and query performance\n\nRedis and caching\n\nAsynchronous processing and message brokers\n\nDesigning scalable and resilient backend services\n\nPerformance optimization\n\nDebugging and root-cause analysis\n\nLogging, monitoring, and production troubleshooting\n\nEngineering fundamentals\nBeyond knowing frameworks, we expect you to understand why systems behave the way they do.\nYou should be comfortable discussing topics such as:\nAPI and system design\n\nDatabase transactions and concurrency\n\nCaching strategies\n\nDistributed systems fundamentals\n\nFailure handling and resiliency\n\nPerformance and scalability\n\nSecurity and authorization\n\nTesting strategy\n\nProduction observability\n\nClean code and maintainable architecture\n\nWhat we're really looking for\nWe're not looking for someone who is 50% frontend and 50% backend but shallow in both.\nWe're looking for an engineer who has strong depth in at least one part of the stack, solid engineering fundamentals across the other, and the ability to independently take a customer problem from:\nProblem → Design → Architecture → Backend → Frontend → Production\nYou should be someone who asks:\n“What is the right solution for the customer and the product?”\nrather than:\n“Is this a frontend problem or a backend problem?”\nYou'll thrive here if\nYou enjoy owning problems rather than just completing tickets.\n\nYou care about both how a product works and how it feels to use.\n\nYou can move quickly without compromising engineering fundamentals.\n\nYou are comfortable working through ambiguity and breaking large problems into smaller ones.\n\nYou enjoy collaborating directly with Product and Design.\n\nYou are willing to dive into unfamiliar parts of the stack when the problem requires it.\n\nYou care about performance, reliability, and maintainability -
