This position requires a skilled craft professional who can work independently and collaboratively while performing tasks such as framing, door and hardware installation, cabinetry, drywall repairs, acoustical ceilings, and other interior finishes. We are seeking candidates with carpentry experience, strong attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to safety and quality craftsmanship\nKey Responsibilities\nFoster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion. \nMaintain the cleanliness of the jobsite (remove trash, sweep, etc.)\nMaintain accountability of tools.\nRough carpentry including framing walls, bulkheads, blocking, stringer layout, involving wood and metal construction.\nFinish carpentry including wood base, jambs, casing, hinge pockets, wood door installations, window installations, sidelights.\nBase and wall cabinet, prefabricated, and custom countertop installations.\nDoor hardware installation including handsets, door closers, kick plates, panic bars, and sweeps. \nMiscellaneous hardware installation including bathroom partitions, handicap railings, and wall mounted accessories.\nSteel door installations including hollow metal and knockdown frames.\nDrywall hanging and repairs ready for final finish.\nAcoustical ceiling installations including grid, cutting and installing pads and use of a laser.\nFamiliarity with all MIOSHA and OSHA requirements related to assigned tasks.\nMaintain yearly safety training as provided by Rockford Construction.\nMaintain First Aid Certification.\nUnderstand contractual relationships at jobsite to maintain the scope of work and its execution.\nAbility to follow instructions and work with others to complete tasks.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nHigh school diploma or GED\nMust possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks\nMust possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills \nExperience in rough and finish carpentry with basic maintenance knowledge\nAbility to read and understand blueprints as it relates to specific responsibilities\nSafe and effective use of power and hand tools\nMust possess a valid Michigan Driver’s license\nAbility to communicate with co-workers, subcontractors, and project representatives\nPhysical effort including reaching, lifting, bending, stretching, climbing, and exposure to dust and noise\nAcquire all necessary certifications for the operation of owned and rented equipment \nBenefits\nAt Rockford, we believe that investing in our people is essential to our success. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement, such as accessing centrally located office equipment, lifting of 35 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, may be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction.
