As an MEP Project Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) systems throughout the entire project lifecycle. From preconstruction and design through commissioning and turnover, you will partner with project teams, trade partners, designers, owners, and vendors to ensure critical building systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on diverse and meaningful projects while working alongside a team committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and building communities that thrive.\nKey Responsibilities\nKEY DELIVERABLES\n Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.\n Understand project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases) and project management. \nExperience with Design/Build, Design/Assist, and Plan/Spec project management process and methods.\nKnowledge and understanding of various commercial mechanical/electrical/plumbing/fire suppression systems and types.\nAbility to read and understand project plans and specifications at all levels of design.\nDevelop MEP/FP Bid Packages, create MEP/FP bid scopes, and provide MEP/FP Budget review and Value analysis.\nCreate and maintain library of historical of MEP/FP cost data, unit costs, and benchmarking information.\nPartner with MEP/FP design team and drive timely resolution of design issues, decisions, and action items.\nLeverage BIM/VDC processes and technology to support constructability, clash detection, prefabrication, installation planning, and stakeholder communication\nManage MEP/FP scope and cost changes, including change order requests, pricing review, and impact assessment.\nSupport MEP/FP equipment procurement, including long-lead identification, submittal status, release requirements, and delivery tracking.\nDevelop and maintain MEP/FP milestone schedules in coordination with the overall project schedule; identify risks and recovery actions early.\nCoordinate MEP/FP permits, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation required for timely execution.\nPartner with Superintendents and project field leadership to support installation sequencing, site logistics, access, and trade coordination. Provide on-site MEP management support as required.\nLead or support MEP/FP commissioning, training, punch list, as-built documentation, and turnover activities.\nManage communication among MEP/FP trades and interface with the Owner, Architect, Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors as needed.\nCommunicate technical, cost, schedule, and coordination issues clearly to a variety of audiences and facilitate timely decisions.\nPromote collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and an inclusive team environment.\nSupport the development of MEP/VDC best practices, lessons learned, standards, and knowledge sharing across projects.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree required in Construction / Engineering related program.\nMechanical engineering degree or Electrical engineering degree is preferred.\n7+ years’ experience in the construction industry. 5+ years’ experience in MEP coordination/management.\nWorking knowledge of BIM/VDC processes and their application to MEP coordination is preferred.\nStrongly prefer a minimum of combination experience, including coordination, project engineering, virtual design, and construction experience.\nMust possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks at once.\nAbility to communicate and present design and/or construction ideas to a variety of audiences. \nDemonstrated ability to work under pressure, to manage deadlines and prioritize assignments. \nMotivated to advance the firm and advance your professional growth. \nA passion for looking for ways to improve individual and/or company performance. \nMust have working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.\nBenefits\nAt Rockford, we believe that investing in our people is essential to our success. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement, such as accessing centrally located office equipment, lifting of 35 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, may be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction.
