This increased presence helps strengthen collaboration, maintain closer proximity with teams, and sustain a strong, vibrant, and aligned studio culture.\n The Compositing Supervisor plays a central role in the artistic and technical integration of the shots delivered by the 2D team. As the guardian of visual quality and methodology, they work closely with the VFX and CG Supervisors, production, and the art direction team to ensure that all deliverables align with the project’s overall vision.\nBoth a hands-on expert, mentor, workflow manager, and interdisciplinary point of contact, they rally their team around high standards while ensuring thorough planning and smooth execution of all assigned tasks.\nMain Responsibilities\nCreative Quality\nTranslate the project’s artistic vision into clear, actionable direction for compositing artists.\n\nLead daily reviews, assess internal versions, and guide artists toward a high level of creative execution.\n\nCollaborate with the VFX and CG Supervisors to address complex visual challenges and maintain harmony between departments.\n\nPropose achievable artistic solutions that take technical, budgetary, or production constraints into account.\n\nActively participate in the development or execution of key shots or complex sequences.\n\nTechnical Quality\nEstablish and maintain a rigorous technical methodology that aligns with the Rodeo FX pipeline.\n\nValidate script compliance, render optimization, and the cleanliness of all deliverables.\n\nContribute to the creation and documentation of compositing tools or templates.\n\nOversee shot continuity and ensure the overall technical quality of the work.\n\nWork closely with other departments to identify and resolve technical issues quickly.\n\nLeadership & Communication\nMentor, motivate, and support artists throughout the project.\n\nCommunicate objectives, feedback, and expectations clearly during briefs, daily reviews, and one-on-one check-ins.\n\nMaintain composure during high-pressure periods, make informed decisions, and escalate issues to the appropriate teams (production, supervision, HR, etc.) when necessary.\n\nFoster a healthy, collaborative work environment aligned with Rodeo FX’s values.\n\nSupport team development, identify training needs, and share knowledge.\n\nProject Management\nTake part in bidding, artist casting, and delivery planning alongside production.\n\nMonitor shot progress, anticipate potential bottlenecks, and adjust priorities as needed.\n\nAct quickly when deviations from objectives, standards, or professional ethics arise.\n\nProvide ongoing performance feedback, support evaluations, and contribute to talent development.\n\nAssist production with bid preparation and delivery documentation when required.\n\nWorkflow Strategies\nOptimize existing processes and propose more efficient methods to enhance team performance.\n\nEnsure that tools, templates, and procedures are up to date, well documented, and understood by all.\n\nActively participate in the evolution of the compositing pipeline based on project and team needs.\n\nIdentify opportunities for automation, simplification, or technical development.\n\nContribute to the harmonization of practices across projects and departments.\n\n Minimum of 5 years of experience as a compositing supervisor within the visual effects industry\n\nStrong experience in team supervision or project management\n\nExcellent mastery of Nuke; knowledge of Flame is an asset\n\nGood understanding of Flow and VFX production pipelines\n\nAdvanced skills in color, lighting, perspective, photography, and 2D/3D element integration\n\nNatural leadership with the ability to mentor teams with both rigor and empathy\n\nStrong communication skills, organizational sense, and resilience under pressure\n\nStrategic mindset with the ability to propose concrete and innovative solutions\n\nAsset: experience in tool or template development, client presentations, or contributing to pipeline evolution\n\n Full-time, Permanent Contract;\n5 paid sick/personal days;\n2 additional statutory holidays in the winter holidays;\nGroup Insurance, access to Dialogue online support and to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP);\nRRSP with employer contribution;\nDiscounts on public transports, several spas, sports classes, art centers, cafes, furniture and several other local businesses.\nDiversity, Equity and Inclusion\nAt Rodeo FX, diversity is a core value.
