You will work with transmission planning models and collaborate with engineering, operations, consultants, interconnected utilities, and other industry stakeholders.\nThis position may be filled at the Engineer, Senior/Lead Engineer, or Principal Engineer level based on experience and technical expertise.\nWhat You'll Do\nPerform power flow, contingency, voltage, transient stability, and related transmission planning studies.\nDevelop, maintain, and validate transmission planning models and study cases.\nIdentify thermal, voltage, stability, reliability, and capacity limitations and evaluate potential solutions.\nSupport long-range transmission planning and development of future system improvements.\nPerform or lead generation interconnection, load service, feasibility, and system impact studies.\nEvaluate transmission alternatives and develop recommendations for system improvements and capital projects.\nApply applicable NERC Reliability Standards, WECC criteria, and transmission planning requirements.\nPrepare technical reports and communicate study findings and engineering recommendations.\nCoordinate technical studies with engineering, operations, consultants, customers, interconnected utilities, and regional organizations.\nParticipate in regional transmission planning activities and technical forums.\nAt senior levels, lead complex studies, review technical work, direct consultants, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance.\nWhat We're Looking For\nEngineer\nBachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis preferred.\nEntry-level through approximately 5 years of relevant power engineering experience.\nExperience or academic background in power systems, transmission planning, power flow analysis, system modeling, or related areas.\nTransmission planning or electric utility experience is preferred as experience level increases.\nEIT/FE certification is preferred.\nSenior / Lead Engineer\nBachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis preferred.\nTypically 6-10+ years of relevant power engineering experience, including significant transmission planning experience.\nDemonstrated experience independently performing or leading transmission planning studies.\nStrong knowledge of power flow, contingency, voltage and stability analysis, transmission modeling, and system performance.\nExperience with interconnection or system impact studies and applicable NERC/WECC requirements.\nExperience providing technical guidance or mentoring engineers.\nPE licensure is preferred.\nPrincipal Engineer\nBachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis preferred.\nTypically 10+ years of progressively responsible transmission system planning experience.\nExpert-level knowledge of transmission planning, system modeling, power flow, contingency, stability, reliability, and long-range planning.\nDemonstrated leadership of complex or high-impact transmission planning initiatives.\nAbility to serve as a technical authority and advise stakeholders on transmission system risks, alternatives, and long-term planning decisions.\nExperience mentoring engineers and establishing technical direction or planning practices.\nPE licensure is strongly preferred.\nTechnical Experience\nCandidates should bring experience appropriate to their level in areas such as:\nTransmission system planning and modeling\nPower flow and contingency analysis\nTransient and voltage stability\nGeneration and load interconnections\nLong-range transmission planning\nNERC Reliability Standards and WECC criteria\nTransmission reliability and system expansion\nPower system simulation software\nExperience with PowerWorld or comparable transmission planning software is preferred.\nWork Environment\nThis is a full-time position that may offer a hybrid work arrangement.
