This is the jump-off point to learn about working at Roku, including our employees, the Roku culture, our office locations around the world, and student internship opportunities. Roku, jobs, careers, internship, streaming, TV, engineering.

Teamwork makes the stream work.

Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

What does the team work on?

At Roku, the Technical Operations team is the platform's first line of defense - a global, around-the-clock organization responsible for the health and stability of the Roku Channel and the systems that power it. With engineers across the US, Canada, Mexico, and India, TechOps monitors ad delivery, CDN infrastructure, live feeds, and content pipelines 24/7, triaging and resolving issues before they reach viewers. The team sits at the intersection of Engineering, Content Operations, Live Operations, and Advertising - owning escalation paths, SLA frameworks, and high-visibility launch support.

Beyond incident response, TechOps invests in automation and tooling to reduce toil and scale with the platform. As Roku's ecosystem grows, we're building smarter operations to match. The platform never sleeps, and neither do we!

What is the role?

Roku is seeking a Technical Operations Engineer to join the Technical Operations team, responsible for the end-user experience of the Roku platform, including The Roku Channel (TRC). You will work as part of a global Technical Operations team with the unique opportunity to interact with many different aspects of Roku, including Live Operations, Advertising Operations, Editorial, Engineering, and Customer Support. In this role, you will support, troubleshoot, and triage issues relating to advertising on the Roku platform, with a particular focus on the AdTech space. You will prioritize issues for engineering resolution and facilitate clear communication to operational and business stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve day-to-day issues, and some data analysis work will be needed to support root cause investigations and operational decision-making. An understanding of Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) is desirable for success in this role.

How will I use AI at Roku?

At Roku, AI agents do most of the keystroke-level coding. Engineers act as the technical leads for those agents - setting context, planning work, verifying outputs, and recovering when the agent goes off course.

We're embracing AI as a powerful tool to amplify human creativity, accelerate innovation, and deliver better results for our customers. Across teams, we're exploring how AI can enhance our work-and we're only looking for people who are curious, adaptable, and excited to grow alongside these technologies. If you are excited about working this way, we want to talk to you.

What are the responsibilities of the role?

  • Prioritizing issues for engineering resolution and facilitating communication to operational and business stakeholders
  • Working with the broader Technical Operations team to support Roku infrastructure, including Ad services
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve day-to-day operational issues
  • Performing data analysis to support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and operational reporting
  • Monitoring ad delivery, CDN infrastructure, live feeds, and content pipelines to identify and triage issues before they impact viewers
  • Supporting escalation paths and SLA frameworks for high-visibility incidents
  • Contributing to automation and tooling initiatives to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency
  • Leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance troubleshooting workflows and accelerate incident resolution

What experience would help someone be successful in this role at Roku?

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant technical experience in video, advertising technology, or related technology disciplines
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues and work collaboratively with engineering and business stakeholders
  • Ability to resolve problems independently and follow documented escalation procedures
  • Comfort and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to interface with internal and external customers in a professional and positive manner
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and methodical approach with a commitment to driving quality
  • Familiarity with the entertainment or streaming industry
  • Knowledge of consumer products, user interfaces, and networking functionality
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and/or weekends
  • Understanding of Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) and advertising technology ecosystems
  • You have built fluency across the agentic engineering toolchain - coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks. And you can describe projects where you shipped real work with these tools. You know how to drive an agent, verify its output, and ramp on an unfamiliar codebase with an agent helping you
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience

What should I know about Roku's culture?

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
