This is an exciting opportunity to work on flagship RR Advanced Development programs and play an important role in addressing some of the most complex and interesting technological challenges in Defense.\nIn this role, you will be responsible for covering the scope of electronic unit development for high integrity harsh environments. This includes accountability for architecture design, verification, process development and process improvement.\nIn this role, you will design circuits that meet performance and reliability requirements for airworthy/certified electronic engine controllers and monitoring systems for use in a wide range of systems. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of projects including the initial architecture concept, the design and development stage, testing of prototypes and the final manufacture and implementation of a new product or system. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together to tackle technical challenges in a stimulating and collaborative environment.\n***This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule allowing for remote and in-office days each week. All hybrid employees must have a secure, high-speed internet connection and an appropriate workspace that complies with applicable information security and confidentiality requirements.\nWhat you will be doing:\nWith this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:\nCollaborate with other systems teams and customers to fully capture and synthesize requirements for electrical components and hardware.\nArchitect, design, develop electrical hardware products through testing, diagnosing, and inspection throughout the R&D program lifecycle.\nExecute electronics/hardware development activities and ensure the delivery of a compliant sub-system level solution for R&D programs.\nAbility to work independently or with a small team of engineers with cross-functional skills to ensure all sub-system program objectives/deliverables are met.\nAbility to work hands-on in electronics development labs.\nEnsure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and timescale) are identified, managed (including integration of risk activities in the project plan) and escalated in accordance with the risk management plan.\nDesign for functional safety and security, preferably within the aerospace industry. Experience with various aerospace environmental and functional testing practices and methods including electromagnetic interference (EMI).\nBasic Requirements:\nBachelor's degree in STEM discipline with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Electrical, Software, Controls, Systems), with 5+ years’ experience, OR\nMaster’s degree in STEM discipline with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Electrical, Software, Controls, Systems), with 3+ years’ experience OR\nJD/PhD OR\nTo be considered for this role, you must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.\nPreferred Requirements:\nExperience with electrical or electronics product development, such as cable harnesses, printed circuit boards, or control panels.\nExperience with Electronics Survivability (Transient Radiation Effects on Electronics) strongly preferred\nExperience working with multi-disciplinary teams of software engineering and mechanical packaging.\nExperience with Aerospace Defense engineering environments and restricted programs.\nExceptional interpersonal and communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, and presentation) for both expert and non-expert audiences. \nExperience with embedded electronics.\nExperience with Texas Instruments, Xilinx, Microchip microcontrollers or FPGAs or integrated control solutions.\nExperience with airworthiness and design assurance of hardware to DO-254 or military standards.\nOur vision is to ensure that the quality and dynamism that shaped our history continues into our future.
