The HTRC is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for investment casting, machining and advanced metrology of single crystal components. This role has a focus on technical specialism of the single crystal investment casting process.\nWhat you will be doing:\nManufacturing Engineers are primarily accountable for the equipment and process methods used with the HTRC. \nThey drive best practice and continuous improvement into their process area whilst acting as a central point for knowledge management and communication across the HTRC and externally with suppliers, customers and partners. \nThey play a key role in supporting and liaising with the operational teams ensuring safe and reliable equipment and processes. \nResponsible for building and maintaining links with engineering teams within domestic Rolls-Royce foundries in order to scope projects to be carried out within HTRC to support continuous improvement.\nPosition requirements:\nDegree qualified\nStrong fundamental understanding of single crystal investment casting manufacturing capability\nDemonstrate technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience\nSound understanding of manufacturing engineering and component engineering principles\nDemonstrate technical knowledge of turbine components and/or process knowledge associated with investment casting\nBe equipped with a strong functional skill set (problem solving, programme management, change control, risk management and budgetary control)\nPreferred requirements:\nExperience working in research and/or production manufacturing environments\nCreated and managed complex experiments to understand and develop manufacturing and component capability\nCreated, managed and approved methods of manufacture and technical packages allowing component manufacture and delivery\nActed to continuously improve current manufacturing methods and developed novel manufacturing capability for turbines component manufacture\nInfluenced the creation and deployment of future manufacturing capability roadmaps to ensure world class processes are operated\nUnderstood equipment requirements, developed equipment capability, installed and validated new manufacturing equipment\nEnsured stability and reliability of process equipment and process methods\nDeveloped and coached Technicians and Engineers in manufacturing processes\nBenchmarked external capability\nRegional Benefits:\nWork in a safety-first environment were doing the right thing and keeping it simple are core principles.\nJoin a culture that values making a real difference through your work.\nDevelop your career as a mid-career professional blending technical expertise with strong personal qualities.\nThrive in a role that encourages integrity, accountability, resilience, and curiosity.\nCollaborate and build relationships in a team-focused environment while also working independently.\nTake initiative, lead, and make smart decisions with confidence and support.\nGrow through continuous learning, openness to improvement, and exposure to challenging opportunities.\nOur vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future.
