The role turns agreed strategic direction into a structured programme, integrating scope, schedules, resources, risks and dependencies and maintaining control when priorities or circumstances change.\nAs part of the Portfolio Office deployable resource pool, the role is assigned to a defined programme or group of related projects under a Programme Executive. It retains people leadership for Project Leads and other programme-management resources assigned to its scope, while the deployed business area sets direction for the work. The Programme Manager owns programme integration, performance and benefits; Project Leads retain delivery accountability for their defined projects.\nKey Accountabilities:\nDefines and phases the programme - grouping related projects and other work into coherent phases that deliver agreed outcomes and benefits.\nLeads integration across component projects - coordinating dependencies, interfaces and organisational boundaries so projects remain aligned and focused on the same outcomes.\nControls programme performance - monitoring scope, schedule, cost, quality, benefits and risk and addressing material deviation from plan.\nOwns programme benefits realisation - connecting project deliverables to intended business outcomes and maintaining clear evidence of progress.\nManages programme change and risk - adjusting scope, sequencing or component projects in response to strategy, performance or external conditions.\nLeads stakeholder engagement and reporting - aligning expectations and providing clear status, decisions and escalation through agreed governance.\nLeads deployed programme-management resources - defining roles, setting priorities and coaching Project Leads or other resources assigned to the programme.\nMaintains professional delivery standards - ensuring compliance with Portfolio Office methods, functional policy and consistent programme-management practice.\nKey Experiences and Qualifications:\nSubstantial experience managing programmes or groups of related projects of increasing complexity across multiple lifecycle stages.\nStrong capability across programme integration, governance, benefits, risk, schedule, scope, cost and stakeholder management.\nExperience leading and developing Project Leads and cross-functional programme teams, including resources outside direct reporting lines.\nComfort working through ambiguity and complex environments, with clear judgement, strong communication and disciplined follow-through.\nOur vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future.
