This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.\nAbout the Team:\nThe Verification & Validation (V&V) Capability team is fundamental to the successful delivery of the Rolls-Royce SMR programme.\nThe team provides the framework that connects requirements, verification and validation activities, and compliance evidence across the entire engineering lifecycle. Working across engineering disciplines, the team develops and continuously improves the capability, methods, processes and digital tools that enable independent, evidence-led compliance assessments needed to demonstrate that the Rolls-Royce SMR power station meets its requirements, fulfils stakeholder needs and performs as intended.\nThe team develops integrated processes, standards, templates and guidance, enhances digital toolsets and automation, builds engineering competence through coaching and subject matter networks, and ensures V&V is effectively integrated with Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, E3S, Test and Commissioning.\nOur mission is simple: to prove that the power station design and implemented solution meets its requirements and satisfies intent in the most efficient and effective way, from first-of-a-kind through to fleet deployment.\nAbout the Role:\nAs an Engineer - Verification & Validation Capability, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Rolls-Royce SMR methods, processes and digital tools are effective, integrated and capable of supporting successful programme delivery.\nYou will be responsible for creating, developing and maintaining tools and methods that enable the implementation of Design Verification and Product Validation processes. Working closely with engineers, subject matter experts and stakeholders across the business, you will identify user needs, define workflows, implement practical solutions and integrate them into the wider engineering environment.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for engineering capability development, digital transformation, systems engineering and continuous improvement to influence how verification and validation is delivered across one of the UK's most exciting engineering programmes.\nWe’ll Need You To:\nDevelop and maintain methods and digital tools that support Design Verification and Product Validation activities\nIdentify user requirements and translate them into practical workflows and engineering solutions\nCreate and maintain integrated digital processes across the engineering lifecycle\nDevelop guidance, training material and supporting documentation\nDeliver training sessions and coach engineers with varying levels of experience\nDrive continuous improvement activities and implement lessons learned\nWork closely with subject matter experts and other capability engineers to ensure technical excellence\nSupport the application of best practices and emerging technologies, including automation and AI-enabled solutions\nEnsure engineering tools and methods are aligned with programme and quality requirements\nSupport technical assurance activities across the development organisation\nImprove the efficiency, consistency and traceability of V&V activities\nPromote adoption of new tools, processes and ways of working across engineering teams\nKey Skills Required:\nWe know there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ candidate. If you meet around 75% of the criteria below, we’d love to hear from you:\nDevelopment of Digital Capability\nExperience developing and continuously improving engineering methods and tools\nExperience implementing engineering processes within digital environments\nUnderstanding of how engineering information, workflows, relationships and evidence are managed through engineering toolsets\nStrong continuous improvement mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo\nExperience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:\nRequirements Management and ALM tools such as Siemens Polarion or IBM DOORS\nSystems Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)\nEngineering information and data modelling\nProcess development and workflow design\nConfiguration and Change Management\nEngineering analytics and visualisation\nAzure DevOps\nAgile planning methodologies\nSQL, Python or similar coding languages\nPower BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX and low-code automation solutions\nVerification & Validation Experience\nExperience supporting verification and validation activities for complex engineering products\nUnderstanding of V&V strategy development, compliance demonstration and evidence generation\nExperience conducting or supporting activities such as analysis, testing, assessment or auditing\nExperience within highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Energy, Process Industries or Oil & Gas would be beneficial\nCommunication & Influence\nStrong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills\nAbility to bring multidisciplinary teams together to solve problems\nAbility to explain complex topics clearly and concisely\nExperience influencing engineering teams and driving adoption of new processes and tools\nComfortable managing uncertainty and change\nSystems Engineering\nSystems-thinking mindset with practical experience applying Systems Engineering principles and techniques\nExperience using Systems Engineering tools and methodologies\nUnderstanding of requirements, interfaces, traceability and lifecycle management\nFamiliarity with the INCOSE framework would be advantageous\nSafety Culture\nDemonstrates positive and proactive safety behaviours\nAbility to challenge appropriately and promote strong safety culture\nCommitment to quality, compliance and continuous improvement\nQualifications:\nDegree qualified in Engineering, a Physical Science or an equivalent technical discipline\nChartered Engineer, or working towards Professional Registration\nEquivalent experience will also be considered\nLocation:\nHybrid working with one of the following as your primary site:\nDerby, Manchester or Warrington.\nSalary and Package:\nThe salary band for this role will be between £42,000 - £50,000 dependent on the skills, values and knowledge you bring.
