As a key part of the leadership team, the Finance Manager is critical to our team’s ability to deliver accurate, timely and relevant financial information to drive business decisions.\nThe Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing key accounting and financial reporting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, maintaining effective internal controls, and supporting the efficient operation of the Finance department.\nThis position provides leadership and oversight across financial reporting, general accounting, capital expenditures and fixed asset accounting, intercompany accounting and reporting, and sales and use tax compliance.\nThe Finance Manager plays an important role in ensuring compliance with accounting policies, improving operational efficiency, and providing timely and meaningful financial information to support business decisions.\nThe successful candidate will be a hands-on finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, proven leadership capabilities, and experience working in a multi-location business environment. The individual must balance hands on technical expertise with the ability to delegate, develop employees and improve departmental performance.\n_____________________________________________________________________________________\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Reporting and Accounting\nOversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.\nReview financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, intercompany reporting and other accounting activities.\nOversee the accounting, reporting, and reconciliation of capital assets across the organization.\nOversee the preparation and timely filing of sales taxes.\nEnsure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information across multiple legal entities.\nAnalyze financial results, identify significant variances, and provide explanations and recommendations to management.\nOversee the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.\nCoordinate financial information and supporting documentation required for external audits.\nSupport the preparation of consolidated financial reporting and management reporting packages.\nAssist with the development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and reporting standards.\nInternal Controls and Compliance\nDevelop, implement, and maintain effective financial controls across assigned accounting functions.\nEnsure compliance with corporate accounting policies, financial procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.\nIdentify financial and operational risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.\nPromote accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the Finance department.\nTeam Leadership and Development\nLead, coach, and develop employees within assigned Finance functions.\nEstablish clear performance expectations, responsibilities, and accountability.\nConduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and professional development.\nPromote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consistent processes across the Finance department.\nEnsure adequate cross-training, succession planning, and continuity of key accounting activities.\nFoster a culture of professionalism, continuous improvement, and strong customer service.\nProcess Improvement and Systems\nStreamline accounting processes, improve reporting accuracy, and reduce manual activities.\nPromote consistent accounting practices across business units and locations.\nSupport the effective use of financial systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related applications.\nCollaborate with IT and other departments to resolve system-related accounting and process issues.\nParticipate in testing and implementation of finance-related process enhancements when required.undefined\nQualifications and Experience\nEducation and Professional Designation\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.\nChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.\nExperience\nMinimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.\nMinimum 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting leadership role in multi-entity organization\nExperience in wholesale distribution, building materials, manufacturing, or similar considered an asset.\nExperience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience considered an asset.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis.\nKey Competencies\nFinancial and technical expertise: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, capital asset accounting and internal controls.\nLeadership: Ability to manage, motivate, coach, and develop teams while maintaining accountability.\nAnalytical thinking: Ability to interpret financial information, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.\nAttention to detail: Commitment to accuracy, completeness, and financial integrity.\nProcess improvement: Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable improvements.\nCommunication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.\nOrganization and prioritization: Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nBusiness partnership: Collaborative approach to working with operational teams and senior management.\nJudgement and problem solving: Ability to evaluate complex accounting matters, asses risk and recommend appropriate solutions.\nSalary: 120.000/year\n***this is a new position***\nBenefits of Employment: Roofmart recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
