The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability of open pits, waste dumps, and providing essential support to tailings dumps. The role requires technical expertise in slope stability, hydrogeology, dewatering design, and surface water management. This position will offer a dynamic opportunity to participate in a variety of engineering and operations tasks, providing stability to critical mine infrastructure and contributing to the success of ongoing projects.\nYour key responsibilities will include:\nMechanics of soils, foundations, and evaluation for dumps for RGM and SM pits.\n\nAnalysis of slope stability, waste dumps, and tailings,\n\nDeliver slopes and FBA and IRA for dump designs for each pit.\n\nStability control of the bench walls, mining phases and final pit, and dumps.\n\nMonitoring, installation, and interpretation of geotechnical instrumentation.\n\nBuild Geotechnical model, horizontal drilling for geotechnical and hydrogeological purposes (depressurization)with good knowledge of geotechnical standards, and ground control management.\n\nOrganize and execute the technical and economic development of engineering proposals.\n\nInteract with geotechnical and hydrogeology consultants in geotechnical designs and controls.\n\nPreparation of geotechnical projects in OPEX and CAPEX for the continuity of the operation.\n\nManagement of geotechnical risks in the tailings dam, open pit and waste dumps.\n\nGeotechnical and hydrogeological validation of mining plans according to the LOM (Life of Mine) for the short, medium, and long term.\n\nDisposal of materials in dumps, weekly and monthly sequencing, and supervision of compliance in mine operations.\n\nGeotechnical instrumentation of the open pit, waste dumps, sedimentation sumps and others.\n\nRequirements\nThe ideal candidate will have:\nBachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent.\n\nEligible for a professional order registration.\n\nPost graduate qualification in mining or business-related field is an added advantage.\n\n+15 years of experience in mine operations (Open Pit) area that include at least 7 years in drilling and blasting departments.\n\nStrong knowledge of slope stability, surface water management, and dewatering design.\n\nExperience in conducting hydrogeological assessments and geotechnical modeling.\n\nFamiliarity with geotechnical design software and tools (e.g. mine site).\n\nExperience in developing and maintaining geotechnical and hydrogeological monitoring programs.\n\nWillingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break at Rosebel Gold Mines Sites in Brokopondo.\n\nIf you have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for ensuring safe working environments, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity at Rosebel Gold Mines N.V.
