The Estimator II solves a range of straightforward problems and assembles construction costs by collecting and studying information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, to ensure they understand what is required to bid on and win the project successfully, and can present the project cost to Senior leadership. With moderate guidance and direction, the Estimator II provides overall support for small- to medium-sized projects, assisted by a senior-level estimator.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO:\nReview proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and requirements.\n\nPrepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work and entering them into the computer estimating system; review the estimate printout for accuracy and completeness.\n\nIdentify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness according to plans and specifications.\n\nItemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages, including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies.\n\nProvide guidance to personnel preparing the completion matrix discipline for assigned bids.\n\nIn conjunction with Senior Estimators, develop labor productivity and (installation unit costs where applicable) based on projected site conditions and historical data.\n\nCompile and execute the scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing, then present them to the Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and/or Chief Estimator for the estimated bid package.\n\nAfter the successful bid, at project turnover, meet with the project management team along with the senior-level estimator to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes, and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project.\n\nResponsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.\n\nPrepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.\n\nMaintain files of working documents for backup to estimating assumptions and methodologies.\n\nThe duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position role within the business unit.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:\nAdvanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control\n\nInterpret computerized cost data and electrical systems\n\nPerform arithmetic calculations required for estimating\n\nRead and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents\n\nIdentify and meet customers’ needs expectations and requirements\n\nSolve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists\n\nProficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)\n\nPrioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary\n\nWork under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude\n\nOral and written communication skills as required for the position\n\nSelf-motivated and can work independently and as part of a team\n\nInteract effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others\n\nWHAT YOU BRING TO US:\nBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field\n\nMinimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction\n\nProficient in Accubid estimating\n\nProficient in CAD or 3D software preferred\n\nCan be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience\n\nTRAVEL:\nUp to 10%\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nGeneral work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
