This role requires close collaboration with software developers, data engineers, IT operations teams, and business stakeholders to ensure efficient and reliable database operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nInstall, configure, administer, and maintain SQL database management systems, particularly Microsoft SQL Server.\nMonitor database performance, availability, storage utilization, and resource consumption.\nWrite, review, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexes.\nPerform database performance tuning to improve query execution times and overall system efficiency.\nImplement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.\nEnsure database security through user access controls, permissions management, encryption, and auditing.\nMonitor database health and troubleshoot performance issues, connectivity problems, and system errors.\nPlan and execute database upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration changes.\nMaintain database integrity, consistency, and availability across development, testing, and production environments.\nConfigure and manage database replication, clustering, high availability, and failover solutions where required.\nCollaborate with developers to design efficient database schemas and improve application performance.\nDevelop and maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and technical standards.\nSupport data migration, integration, reporting, and business intelligence activities.\nIdentify database capacity requirements and recommend infrastructure improvements.\nEnsure compliance with organizational data governance, security policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nThree or more years of experience in SQL database administration or a related database engineering role.\nStrong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).\nExperience with database installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.\nProficiency in SQL query optimization, execution plans, indexing, and performance tuning.\nHands-on experience with database backup, restoration, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.\nUnderstanding of database security, authentication, authorization, and access management.\nKnowledge of relational database concepts, normalization, indexing strategies, and transaction management.\nExperience with database monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.\nFamiliarity with Windows Server environments and basic networking concepts.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, or other managed cloud database services.\nKnowledge of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, and replication.\nFamiliarity with database automation using PowerShell, Python, or SQL Server Agent.\nExperience with database migration, version upgrades, and high-availability architecture.\nUnderstanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and business intelligence platforms.\nFamiliarity with monitoring and administration tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure Data Studio, and SQL Server Profiler.\nRelevant certifications, such as Microsoft Azure database-related certifications or other recognized database administration credentials.\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe anticipated salary range for this position is $95,000-$135,000 annually for a full-time position in the United States.
