As a team member of the Life Sciences practice, you will be provided with opportunities to work on projects in RSM offices in biotech hubs across the country. You will also get exposure to various typesof entities within the industry, ranging from companies in the clinical R&D phase to large public biopharma’s. Common accounting areas encounteredin the industry include collaboration and licensing arrangements, complex debt and equity transactionsand internal controls over financial reporting.\nResponsibilities:\nProvide timely, high qualityclient service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables\n\nParticipate in public market transactions such as Form S-1, Form S-3, Form F-4, etc.\n\nAssess risk along with design and communicate audit procedures to engagement teams\n\nUnderstand and utilize RSM’s Global Audit Methodology\n\nManage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff\n\nUnderstand skillsets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors and monitor and review work product that they prepare and report on performance while articulating coaching notes throughout the process\n\nIdentifytechnical accounting matters early and assess impact on financial statements; coordinate with firm specialists as needed\n\nSupervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams and facilitatefield work by monitoring and reporting regardingproductivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignment\n\nMaintain contact with clients throughout the year to understand impact of significant developments in client’s business and assess impact on current year audit engagements\n\nDevelop others within the Firm through facilitating levels based or industry training, advising on career development or participatingin other Firm initiatives\n\nSubscribe to and actively read industry publications and share relevant information with clients as considered applicable\n\nAnticipate and addressclient concerns and escalateissues as they arise\n\nUnderstand RSM’s lines of businesses, availability of services and where applicable, discuss with client management of opportunities to make valuable introductions to others in the firm\n\nDevelop a strategy to utilizerelationships external to the firm with different typesof Centers of Influence to effectuate business growth\n\nManage profitability of projects\n\nEnsure professional development through ongoing education\n\nKeep abreast of latest developments as they affect GAAP, SEC reporting,and the Firm’s standards and policies\n\nWillingness to travel 25%of the year, depending on your clients\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nBS/BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree\n\nCPAor CACertification\n\n5+ years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment\n\nExperience leading teams and mentoring associates\n\nUnderstanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP, GAASand FASB regulations\n\nA proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships\n\nMinimum of 4 years of team lead or in-charge experience overseeing staff on multiple engagements\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPreviousexperience auditing life science companies and related organizations\n\nA successful record of directing and deploying staff and senior associates on multiple, simultaneous engagement\n\nUnderstanding of audit services with knowledge of SECand PCAOBregulations\n\nAt RSM, we offer a competitive benefits and compensation package for all our people.
