RSM is seeking an experienced Private Equity Fund Tax Partner to join our growing Financial Services Tax practice and serve as a strategic tax advisor to leading private equity firms and their investment funds.

This is a leadership role for a tax professional with deep private equity fund experience, strong technical expertise and a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with sophisticated clients. The Partner will lead complex client engagements, provide strategic tax guidance, develop and expand client relationships, and help grow and develop our PE Fund Tax practice.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the private equity industry and the ability to connect technical tax matters to broader business and investment objectives. This individual will work collaboratively across RSM's tax and advisory practices to deliver an integrated experience for clients.

As a Tax Partner, you will lead client service, growth, specialist, or leadership responsibilities for the Tax line of business. This role focuses on delivering high-quality tax solutions, deepening client relationships, developing teams, and contributing to strategic growth across capabilities and markets.

Job Responsibilities:

Client Leadership & Advisory

• Serve as a trusted advisor to private equity sponsors, fund executives, CFOs, tax directors and other senior client stakeholders.
• Lead complex tax engagements for private equity funds, including fund structures, management companies, carried interest, co-investments, blockers, portfolio investments and related entities.
• Provide strategic federal, state and international tax advice on fund formation, restructuring, transactions, investments and ongoing operations.
• Anticipate emerging tax issues and proactively identify opportunities to improve clients' tax positions and operating models.
• Translate complex tax matters into clear, actionable recommendations for senior executives and investment professionals.

Business Development & Growth

• Develop and expand relationships with private equity sponsors and build a significant book of business.
• Identify opportunities to expand RSM's relationship across tax and other service lines, including M&A Tax, SALT, International Tax, Transaction Advisory and other advisory capabilities.
• Participate in industry events, private equity forums and other market-facing activities to strengthen RSM's presence in the PE community.
• Lead proposals and pursuits, including developing differentiated solutions and pricing strategies.
• Build relationships with prospects and referral sources and contribute to the growth of the broader Financial Services Tax practice.

Practice Leadership

• Help shape and execute the PE Fund Tax growth strategy, including market expansion, client targeting and talent development.
• Lead and mentor Managers, Senior Managers and other professionals, creating a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
• Promote leverage and effective delegation to ensure senior professionals are focused on the highest-value client and growth activities.
• Collaborate across RSM's national and international Financial Services Tax teams to deliver consistent, high-quality client service.
• Contribute to the development of new service offerings, technology-enabled solutions and more efficient delivery models.

Technical & Quality Leadership

• Maintain strong technical knowledge of partnership and private equity fund taxation and stay current on legislative, regulatory and industry developments.
• Oversee the delivery of high-quality tax compliance and advisory services for complex fund structures.
• Apply sound professional judgment and ensure engagements meet RSM's quality, risk management and professional standards.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engagement teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university.
• Active CPA license or equivalent professional credential in the state of residence or primary office.
• Minimum of twelve(12) years of Tax experience in public accounting, with the ability to effectively identify, sell and deliver tax services to middle-market clients.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means.
• Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast paced, client service environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment.
• Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours including the ability to regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation.
• Ability to work extended and/or non standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
• 15+ years of relevant tax experience, with significant experience serving private equity funds and sponsors.
• Deep knowledge of partnership taxation and private equity fund structures.
• Demonstrated success developing and managing significant client relationships.
• Proven ability to generate new business and expand existing relationships.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with investment professionals and C-suite executives.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across tax, advisory and international teams.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of the private equity industry.
