There’s no one like you and that’s why there’s nowhere like RSM.\nJob Summary:\nThe Senior ServiceNow Software Engineer designs, develops, configures, tests, and supports scalable solutions on the ServiceNow platform that meet business and technical requirements. This role independently leads the technical delivery of moderately complex solutions, collaborates with cross-functional teams, makes sound design decisions within established platform architecture and governance, and mentors less experienced engineers while contributing to secure, maintainable, and upgrade-ready solutions.\nEssential Duties:\nDesign, configure, develop, test, deploy, and support ServiceNow applications, modules, and platform capabilities.\nBuild and maintain scoped applications, data models, forms, workflows, Flow Designer flows and sub flows, business rules, script includes client scripts, UI policies, and related components.\nDevelop secure integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, import sets, transform maps, MID Server, and other integration patterns as appropriate.\nCollaborate with product owners, platform architects, administrators, QA, security, and other engineers to refine requirements and deliver platform solutions.\nApply ServiceNow security controls, including roles, groups, access control rules, data policies, and secure scripting practices.\nMonitor and improve solution performance, maintainability, accessibility, and upgrade compatibility while minimizing unnecessary customization.\nDocument solution designs, configurations, integrations, technical decisions, deployment procedures, and operational support processes.\nMentor junior associates by reviewing designs and code, sharing ServiceNow development standards, and promoting reusable platform patterns.\nContribute to Agile delivery, source control and application repository practices, CI/CD automation, governance, and continuous improvement of the ServiceNow platform.\nSKILLS:\nExperience & Background\n5 or more years of software engineering or related experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on ServiceNow application development in an enterprise environment.\nExperience independently delivering moderately complex ServiceNow solutions across the software development lifecycle, from requirements refinement and technical design through deployment and production support.\nCore Technical Proficiency\nProficiency with ServiceNow platform development, including scoped applications, tables and data models, forms, lists, business rules, script includes client scripts, UI policies, notifications, and access control rules.\nStrong JavaScript skills and experience with ServiceNow server-side and client-side APIs, including Glide Record and related Glide APIs.\nExperience with Flow Designer and Integration Hub; familiarity with Workflow Editor in environments where legacy workflows remain in use.\nExperience designing and supporting integrations using REST/SOAP web services, scripted REST APIs, import sets, transform maps, authentication methods, and MID Server.\nExperience with ServiceNow testing and deployment practices, including update sets, application repository or source control, instance promotion, upgrade validation, and release verification; familiarity with clone planning and post-clone validation is beneficial.\nUnderstanding of ServiceNow security, performance, data integrity, platform governance, and configuration practices that support maintainability and upgradeability.\nExperience with ServiceNow products relevant to the assigned team is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate deep experience in one or more areas, such as ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, CSM, HRSD, SPM, or App Engine, rather than broad exposure across the full platform.\nFamiliarity with web technologies such as HTML and CSS and with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and secure SDLC practices.\nProfessional Traits\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex platform and integration issues.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating across business, product, architecture, security, and engineering teams.\nClear communication skills to explain platform capabilities, technical tradeoffs, and solution designs to varied audiences.\nDemonstrated ability to mentor and support less experienced colleagues and promote consistent development standards.\nSound judgment to balance business needs, platform capabilities, technical risk, and long-term maintainability when recommending ServiceNow solutions.\nCommitment to continuous learning and the ability to adapt engineering practices as ServiceNow platform capabilities, standards, and supported products evolve.\nEducation/Certification:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) preferred; ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) strongly preferred.\nAdditional ServiceNow certifications or credentials aligned with the team’s supported products and capabilities are beneficial.\nAt RSM, we offer a competitive benefits and compensation package for all our people.
